This might explain why some of your suppliers are struggling to supply Sidewinders at the moment:

HPI are selling them re-badged as the 'Flux Motiv' brushless ESC. They even mention on that page you need a Castle Link to program them. Apparently according to one forum post the wires still say 'Castle Creations' on the insulation :)

This *is* good news for us UK folks as I'm pretty sure I can get these on this side of the pond from Mirage/HPI Europe. They don't cost as much as anyone elses ESCs over here (because they are not sensored), and I know the Sidewinder inside out and backwards too.

Edit: wouldn't be surprised if this was a Castle 5700KV motor in a black can too:

That's great news. I'll take my Castle stuff over anything sensored that I've seen out so far anyday. I don't think it'll be a cost savings for us over here, as the Castle stuff is still going to be cheaper I'm sure (sidewinder anyway) than the HPI, but I'm glad its going to benefit you guys over there. I would be more tempted to buy an HPI brushless rig if its running a rebadged castle system over anything else.

Yeh you folks in the US won't save anything because HPI charge a pretty substantial premium on their parts.

I thought it might be a useful thing for you guys to know all the same though incase the supply of Sidewinders dries up at any point and HPI dealers still have the Flux Motiv in stock.

The retail cost of one of these with a motor is 20 GBP less (about 32.50 US) less than the price of a Losi, and like you say it'd be much better to have a Castle setup. Only gripe is they only do a 5700KV set, and I want a 4600. I may have to use a non-Castle motor and no-one seems to sell and decent brands over here :\.

HPI Europe announced yesterday they are now stocking HPI Flux branded Castle Link cables also, to compliment the Flux range of BL motors and ESCs.

This *was* the thread, and it was about them supplying Sidewinders and CM36 motors under the HPI Flux Warp brand. See above - first post was 11th October 2008 :)

I was just updating the situation for anyone interested.
