I just bought a new car and it's all blacked out and the window tint is very dark, especially in the rear because it's limo tint in the back.

Problem is that you can not see my temporary plate in the rear window and my new plate won't be here for another few days.

Call the DMV. In my town temporary tags can be displayed where the license plate would be. This is what I did on my car when I bought it since it also had very very dark tint. Can’t laminate it, but you can place it in a ziplock baggy. This varies state to state though, so I’d verify anything with your local government before following through with it.

Thats a good idea, I will definitely do that. I want to drive the thing but feel too paranoid to enjoy it until the plates comes haha I'm from Michigan. And a small town... Well not so small anymore

Michigan? Is your tint legal? Not sure what the laws are here now, but years ago I had my truck windows tinted in FL, I was only home one day before the (Used to be small town) police chief made me get rid of it.
I bet he and his officers had darker tint.

I'm not getting rid of it regardless. They suggest that the reason is for officer safety but the last time I checked we lived in a free country and I do have the right to be safe and secure in my own property and window tint definitely adds to my security of my own vehicle or property

I feel my right to privacy and nit being profiled is just as, if not even MORE important to me than the safety of officers. We all have priorities in life In my life, I'm WAY close to the top than they are.

Maine has crap tint laws too.

"The right to be secure in one's property, including the right to be safe on one's property, is primarily protected by the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It guarantees protection against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government."

So I believe personally that the "idea" people being punished for window tint is unconstitutional... Regardless....

I do not buy houses to make sure someone else is safe but to make sure my loved ones are safe so why is it different?

More simply put... if theres no problem, move along officer... nothing to be seen here.

I do NOT feel safer because there are armed men hiding behind badges in our society.

Ppl don't break into homes in Maine because we ALL have guns. Any questions? 🤣
Tint, no seat belts, loud exhaust... all another way for cops to get up in your business "for your own safety".
Any self/home defense expert will tell you that if your plan is to hide and calmly wait for the police to come rescue you, you are already dead.
As far as I can tell, cops are there to write tickets, investigate crimes AFTER they happen and eat free donuts... not necessarily in that order either.
I have no idea why they are still a thing.

Guarantee they did… Tint laws are a money grab. I have double 5% in the back, 5% front doors and a 5% brown on the windshield. I got nothing to hide, I’ll roll my windows down if I get pulled over if it’s truly about the officer “feeling safer.” But we all know it’s not.

I will continue to do that and if they want to give me a ticket, I’m not paying it. They can garnish my PFD at the end of the year and do that paper work nightmare. If they want my money that bad, they can work for it.

Here all the people with dark windows drive like an ass. They cut you off and break check you 90%. Being one in the outdoors and heat alot i miss my old work truck. Half the time id have to open the door to check for the boss man. 🤣

That's what gets me, that it's about "officer safety". We know it's not, I didn't buy the car to make sure other people feel safe and I have the window tint to make myself and my personal belongings more safe in my property, which I have the right to
