Car insurance question

I have a friend whos getting divorced and she has a wreck on her record. The car that she has with her ex is supposed to be all transferred to her name but without him on the policy, the rate is gonna jump up and it is already insanely high. Is it possible to add her and her car to my policy if the car is not in my name?

Short answer is yes, but her accident will follow her and you rates will go up as a result of adding her.

thats fine with me, I'm just trying to help keep hers from going way up, shes gonna pay her rate not me...

also, i have nationwide and they told me that she would have to get her own policy because shes 25 which is why i asked the question. Is it only some insurance companies that will do it?

Sounds about right. Once you're 25 you can no longer be carried on your parents insurance policy. If she's not your wife, she can't be shared on yours.
I'm pretty sure she's on her own now.

Thats what i was afraid of. doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me, youd think theyd want to insure everything they can

What about putting it completely in your name and having her pay the difference? As long as she doesn't live with you she should be able to drive it all day with no issues. It may actually make your ins go down as you would have 2 vehicles and obviously can't drive them both at once

Insurance is also based on where you park the car at night. Put it in your name and YOU are totally responsible if something happens. Try to skirt those issues and you're committing fraud.

From personal experience its never a good idea to get involved with friends and money.
