What products do you use when detailing your car?

I'm a big Meguiars fan for most stuff.
Lexol for the leather.
Rain-X for the windows.
Micro fiber cloths are the absolute best.
California dusters can't be beat.

I'm still looking for a Clay Bar thats better then others.

CLEAN MY TRUCK?!?!?!?!?!
WTF do I own a pick up for???
we have a guy come to the office and he does it for 20 bucks....I dunno what he uses but it looks clean when he's done....

I drive plain jane white.....blends in great....and it lets you know it needs a bath....I just ignore it more than i should

Well, being lazy and picky, here's what I do. First, garaging a car will make the finish last the longest. Like you, I prefer Maguiers for a cleaner and polish. For leather, very diluted Windex water combo works to remove light dirt. I try not to use a leather treatment like Lexol, which I have both the cleaner and conditioner, as I like the low gloss look for the leather. Even using the Lexol cleaner will make the leather shiny. For any cloth or carpet stains, Armor All products has a new Oxi-???? product that works really well.

As to the outside, like I said above, I am lazy. That means I hate to wax a car. I park all of my autos in the garage every night. I also only wash them with cold water, no soap or cleaners, and in the shade. This really helps to keep a finish on a car. My wife's Volvo convertible is 3 years old now and it still beads up, never been waxed. I wash it about once every two weeks as lately it mostly sits as she is using the Denali mostly. My Jeep Wrangler, seen every kind of weather and driving condition. But again, washed in cold water in shade, sits in garage when not on the road. Still holding a good shine and beading.

My diesel motorcoach has what we MH'rs call full body paint. (Basically painted all over like a car) When it needs a wax, I'll hire someone. But I do wash it every time I take it out, usually about 1-2 times/month.

Eddy, you try the new Meguiar's micro fiber cloths? They work nice and have sewn satin edges to prevent scratches. They have a new glass cleaner out that rocks. I use it with their micro fiber glass towel...

They also have a new line of brushes and wheel scrubbers out. They work good too.

I use Mequiar's new quick detailer (from their nxt line) and their new "bone" shaped applicator pad on my '66. Works great. I leave the bottle and the applicator in the trunk for quick touchups...

Meg's claybar is the heat.

Really, I use the Mr Clean car care package. Then I like to use the spray on wax while its wet and buff it out with a Microfiber cloth. Leaves it nice and smooth.

I agree this Mr. Clean thing is amazing, just make sure you sparingly use the filtered water. Costco sells the pack with extras for a great price. Finish off with Zymol for an amazing shine.

I worked at a Ford dealership detailing for 4 years, then owned my own detailing and graphics shop for 4 also (Now just graphics) but all I used was products from a company called "Destinctive Details" which products were awesome! All around the board, there stuff couldnt be beat. Also "Wizards" is very good too.

Most clay bars are the same process ... actual clay bar and using detail spray for lubricant. Cutting into the paint ishe same. it's only the manufacturer of the quick detail spray that is different.

I'm Zaino and only Zaino, it sounds entailed but it is really quite easy and it lasts. I use Lexol for seats but everything else is Zaino Bros. Check the detailing sections on most BMW forums and most will say the same thing. They have a claybar as well

zaino is good stuff too, but a different type of product than griots. zaino is probibly better for daily drivers because iirc, its a polishing and sealing system. it stays on your paint longer than waxs do. i just prefer waxs for color and clarity because my car sees the show circuit regularly so I'm always waxing it anyway. not saying zaino doesn't look good, you wouldnt see the difference unless on 2 cars side by side. check out the griots site though for the rest of the products they offer. thier toys for the garage are awsome and some items like thier oil change and brake bleeder pumps make car care so easy its fun. the kinda toys i think you would like eddy.

Carnuba's tend to "tint" the paint towards a yellow over time and they don't last as long. Griots does have some nice stuff (a little high, but what the hell right), but they piss me off. Based in Washington state, they open a distribution warehouse about 2 miles from my house in IN. Now I pay tax on an order, and shipping. Unless they changed it and allow local pickup now. The local chapter of BMW CCA had a tour there a week or so ago but I was unable to go to find out. Corrado, I think we had this conversation before.
