I need to know if anybody can think of a way to start this motor without a bumpbox. It is a ofna
picture.php

It is a bump start. Looks like an old OS I had with a built in fuel pump. It was in an Inferno. Looks like same basic idea though

I would imagine trying to find another back plate that has the same bolt pattern as this and just put a pull start on it..

i was told that the tube going from the back plate to the crank case does something for proformence.i think it supossed to recirculate any unburnt fuel or some thing. but it is a ofna it was on a mugen buggy or truggy ,but i would really like to get it started without buying a bump box for something i don't know if it runs.

Wow, racer if that works then that's got to be one of the most creative Jerry rig solutions I've seen yet.

I would probably look into deleting that fuel pump. and going to exhaust fuel pump. then maybe swap back plates.. but if thats not possible your not going to have really anyother way to start it besides bumpbox.

It is highly unlikely he will be able to find a back plate that will match up. The next problem is the crank....also made for that purpose; a bump start engine I was not intended for a pull start so making it work...good luck. If the crank does not have provisions for a pull start to spline in to it...it's not going to work. There is more to it than just swapping a back plate. You are better off cleaning it up and selling it if you don't want to buy a starter box.

what is a pin strip remover ? never mind . duhh. I may stop by one of the old body shops i used to install auto glass for and talk to the prep guy . thank you . great idea.
