Can I use 18650 for glow plug?

Hi folks, the nimh (1.2v) ignitor I have is too old and been sitting around too long and doesn't hold a charge any more.
I have a bunch of Li 18650 cells (3.7v) sitting around which last much longer.
What happens if I try to use one with the glow plug?
I have a igniter clip with two wires and alligator clips on the ends. If I can't use the 18650, what rechargeable alternatives exist?

No. 1.5 volts is just that 1.5volts. a 18650 is 4.2 volts will burn a gp in a second..

Glow plug igniters are cheap, why not just purchase a new one?

Yeah I was testing experimental batteries, and when I tried a 1s and 2s lipos, they both destroyed the plugs instantly with a pop. Keep in mind 1s lipos are 3.7v.

I just use LSD AA's and an AA sized heater. Fits in my pocket better when I'm out running. A single AA will last you all day, even for break in. I always have a spare charged with me as well just in case.

In the old days, we use a curled steel wire or use a shock spring to generate resistance (it is going to get hot), if you have a voltmeter, you can check how far you need to go to get 1.5v.
