I think that charger is for NiCD cells only. You need one that will also charge NiMH cells.

How can u tell if it only charged nicad? Cuz I have the charger already. I am looking at getting some good batteries for my recivers. Should I just get some nicad packs or get some nihms and a nihm charger?

i just found this......http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Detail.aspx?ProductID=DYN4020

It says it can charge nihm or nicad, but it says 6 or 7 cell packs. I have charged an 8 cell pack with no problems before, but never a 5. So what would happen if I hooked up one of those 5 cell 6v packs to this charger?

The charger would state if it can charge NiMH cells. If it does not, then it is only for NiCD.

You should get one that can charge from 1 to 8 cells so you can charge 8 cell transmitter packs as well.

Here is the one I use.

Super Brain 969

There are many others to choose from with similar capabilities. I find this one to be a good all around charger.

I'm not really wanting to dish out 100 right now for another charger. If I can, can I use the one I have? Dynamites website says it can charge nihm or nicad at an average of 4 amps, but it only says 6/7 cells. What would happen if I used this charger?

Thanks for all the help before I forget to do so. I got this from the charger you just recomende.

The 4 amp charge rate is used for charging 6-7 cell NiCd battery packs as found in most electric cars, trucks, and buggies. A universal receiver plug is included. With the 1 amp charge rate you can safely fast charge any 4-5 cell gas car receiver pack with the included receiver charge cord adapter.

It says for 4-5 cell reciever packs, it charges at 1 amp.... Now I know I'm being a cheap ass and should just get a new charger, but I would like to use this charger if possible. Is 4-5 amps going to that battery pack I want to use going to be ok? Will that many amps blow the batteries?

I am not positive, but I would say you will fry the pack or at least shorten its life drastically.

A wall mount trickle charger is an option.
