i have a HPI savage .25 and i keep burning up my glow plugs within five minutes each i have burned 3 up in two days with maybe 15 minutes total runnung time.

I'm using 30% nitro 11% lube fuel, and my glow plugs i used is POWER PLUG R4 MEDIUM COLD, I ALSO BURNED UP A RACING EDGE MEDIUM PLUG,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP I'm NEW TO THE HOBBY, THANK YOU

I would stick with the medium plugs over the medium cold running that fuel. With that fuel/plug combo the only thing I can think of that could be killing them is your tune is way out. You are more than likely running too lean and burning them up.

Set your carb back to factory settings and then follow the tuning guide on this site to get it to a good safe tune. Once you have it tuned it should stop killing the plugs. If it continues to kill them let us know and we can try to help you figure it out.

your either running lean, or you might have some plug coil remains in your engine. take your head off and make sure you have nothing in your engine. more than likely your running to lean. what color is the bottom of the plugs your burning up ?

well the top of the piston was cracked the and the carb was messed up also i dont know how to explain it exactly. i ended up tradin it and a small amount of $ for a brand new E REVO VXL BRUSHLESS I'm much happier with the electric i think the nitro is a little too much crap to deal with for how little experience i have. and with lipo 3 cell batteries it sure screams.

Wow gave up on nitro already? And another one bites the dust. You should have stuck it out dude. Nitro is very rewarding once you get the hang of it. The only way to gain experience is to stick it out and learn. Glad i didn't give up as easily as you did. I used to run electrics but once I graduated to nitro I will never own another electric. Nitro is just too much fun.

The sound and the fact that it keeps my basic mechanical abilities in check keeping them running at the best possible performance. Knowing that my rigs run as good as they do because i tuned them to run that way. I want to get into brushless as well but i will never get tired of nitro.

to each his own eh. what about nitro do you like better than electric?

i think for nitro guys, it's learning the skill of tinkering and tuning a rig that gives a little more satisfaction than the plug and play aspect of electric's. i'm not bashing electrics, i have one myself. for me personally i enjoy the challenge of getting a nitro rig running at peak performance, and yes i do get frustrated at times, but that's the part i love !!! and no matter how fast today's electric rigs are..nothing beats the sound and smell of a nitro rig ! just my 2 cents !

agreed !

Nitro is challenging and requires actual skills that have to be learned in order to get a rig to run it's best. Plus the sound and smell. Plugging in a battery and pulling the trigger is just to easy. Seems like cheating to me. You can't get the kind of satisfaction you get when you've tuned and tweaked a nitro engine and got it absolutely screaming from plugging in a battery. It just ain't the same and never will be. I don't care how much faster brushless is than nitro. To me electric is too much like going to Toys-R-Us and buying one of their RCs. Nitro is much more realistic. Electrics are too much like toys .Just my .2 cents.

No mine's better! Not uh, mine is! Why does it matter? As long as he's in the hobby and having fun, it doesn't matter what powers his rigs.

+1 to the smell of a fried ESC, very distinctive. lol

Why does it matter? Because he asked why we prefer nitro over electric.

You obviously have never smelled the aroma that comes from a smoked ESC! Ahh... nothing better. :hehe:

i just found that smell this weekend when i toasted the brushless motor in my son's 1/10th high roller ! i'll take the smell of nitro !LOL !:D
