i have bought a nitro truck 1/10 off my mate, it all runs fine, but the other day when he was about to start it the string in the pull start unfortunatley snapped, can i just simply take the pull start apart and attatch a new string ? or is there any other ways to start it?

You can take it apart and put a new string in it. It sometimes is a bit of a chore to get the spring tension right so it retracts properly, but it's not too bad.

As for other ways to start it, depends on what it is/how it's made. Some are made with an opening to expose the bottom of the flywheel for a starter box. There are also conversion kits for most engines for rotostart or drill starting.

Bit of a chore??!!! That's putting it mildly! lol
If you drink I advise you have a six-pack ready. If you don't drink you'll want too when it comes time to re-install the spring!
It all depends upon the design. Some are easy to rebuild, some cause foul language, bleeding.....

well it looks like il be off to the supermarket for some bud! :D the flywheel is exposed, i saw a vid on youtube of guy putting in his glow starter then pushing the car forward a few times and it went, but aparently this only works on some engines?

i just broke my rotostart backplate (shattered the fkn peice of sht!!!!) and bought a pull start. I PREFER PULLSTART!! if it stalled anywhere i can just produce an ignitor and be on my way again, without producing a fkn cumbersome drill / rotostart! maybe my engine is still just so new that the pullstart works great, but time will tell! $50 for a pullstart... fk, i'd pay $50 not to have to fk around with tensions ect ect!!

i mark my pull start with black marker so i can make sure i dont pull it to hard. i think you should try it out. never broke a pull start ever

yer i do like them, i got mine i fixed mine! then the holy moly spring went flying!! :@ so in off to buy one tommorow aswel as loads o f new parts ! :D

Holy crap! What brand engine is it? Most I've ever seen is 20 bucks for a PS... Unless they included the one-way bearing in that price, since those can run up to $20.
