So i just got my Ofna Pirate 10 truck running the other day. Its a few years old, i never had anywhere big and open to play with it at home, but now I'm in college and theres a nice big open dirt area to play with it. I was playing around with it today doin some offroading and suddenly my front tire went flying and the truck spun out. Snapped it clean off, I'm not sure what happened, it all happened so fast. Heres some pictures, can anyone help me out what I need to replace, or if its even possible to get parts for this thing anymore?

if it has cv style axles you will need the whole axle, if its a dogbone type you can just pull out the broken stub axle and replace it.

as far as finding them, i dont have a clue, never looked for parts for one.

Thanks everyone, man i hope i can find some parts for this thing. I might just have to find a hobby shop around here near school to try and find some axle shafts. My other problem is i dont have the right tools to work on this thing. I need to find a socket small enough to fit the nut on the rim so i can take the broken piece out of the wheel! I'm gonna look into those axle shafts to see if they are the right size to replace my broken one.

Does anyone think that i should just try and buy a newer truck? My best friend keeps saying it will be just as expensive if i keep breaking stuff on the old truck, struggling to find parts...I should just buy a new one.

Well, if you have the funds, finding something a bit more mainstream may be better. Easier to find parts, stock and after market.

However, that one appeared to be OFNA's attempt at a truggy type truck and it's more or less 1/8 scale (engine size).

As for a new one, I'm not sure what you want to fork out or what you want to really do with it.

Give us an idea of what you want to do and we can help guide you down the dark path of RC...

Well i dont really want to buy a new truck, this one hasnt been played with enough to justify a new purchase. When you say that my truck is basically the same as a 1/8th scale truck, is there a chance that they might share the same parts other then the engine? Thanks for your help.

heres some pics for ya

what olds posted looks like it should work--its only $15 that beats buying a new truck eh?

Glad I could help! I busted one of those exactly like you did on my aftershock. However, I think mine had good reason... came down off a jump of about 8 feet and landed on one wheel, on concrete. Popped off and bounced around the skate park a bit. It's the only one I ever broke like that and I've been bashing my rigs for many years.

Well this is crap! I just got an email from GS hobbies saying that part i need is no longer available!! :whhooo: And now when you click the link they have removed the part,  http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVDE4&P=7 <-- these should work right? if i order those, the pin that goes through that little hole, those are just pressed in right? i should be able to use a small punch and get it out and back in the new one??

Man... that sucks. I don't know if they will work. I have a feeling they will be too small. Just because they look similar doesn't mean they aren't half the size.

I'll keep my eye out for your axles.

As for the pin, you should have an allen screw in the center piece that the pin goes through that locks it in there. You loosen the allen set screw and the pin should just slide out. At least that's how all CVD style axles I've owned work.

EDIT:
I didn't find it here, but you might want to give them a call to see if they can help. I've read many posts in the past about these guys having stuff that nobody has.

Ok so i bought the new half shaft things, they are the right size luckily! Now how in the world do i get the little pins out that hold the CV joint together? i tried turning the little allen heck thing in there, but the one side of the screw it covered by the cup part of the CV joint. That and it seems like it is very very tight in there i dont wanna strip it:(

So your pretty sure i need to turn that little hex screw? about how far do i turn it, or does it completely have to come out?

You only need to turn it 1/2 turn or so to let go of the pin. It should come out completely. It may be a tight fit, but at the right angle, it should come out. Don't use a cheap allen to get it out or you probably will strip it.

So, the axial ones are the same size? Even the cup where the cvd end goes? If so, that's just great luck for you!

EDIT:
Shoot... I just looked up the parts for the axial, they use a ring to hold the pin in, not a set screw.
You can see the ring here: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVDE6&P=7

You sure yours has a set screw and not a ring around the housing of the CVD cup?

Yup they are the perfect size. I think I'm just going to take the axles to the hobby shop friday to see if they can get the pin out for me i really dont wanna screw it up. As for now i just put the new CV end shafts into the hubs without axles connected. My truck has gone from 4wd to 2wd haha. Probly wont really run it much cause we have SNOW!

Ill let ya know how it goes.

Well, if you don't have good RC wrenches... now may be the time to get some! Your LHS should have decent wrenches made out of good steel, so it will be less likely they strip it. However, if they do... I'm not sure what you can do to get it apart.

You could try heating it a bit with a torch. There's nothing in there that will be damaged by heat (at least a little, don't want to go red hot or anything), but the heat would break up any thread lock/rust in there and may let you break it loose.
