break in

is it ok too break in my new .18 wasp engine in like 35-45 degree weather? or is that to cold?

You can do it. It will just take longer and be a little harder to get the engine to start. Definitely use a hair dryer to warm the engine up prior to attempting to start it. Also, do not let it cool down on its own out in the open. Rapid cooling of the internals will lead to warpage and internal problems.

My recommendation, wait until it gets a little warmer out.

I must concur with Sky here. I do have a winter break in that I do from time to time and that using some plastic hose with about a 3/4" ID and attatching it to the stinger on the exhaust. This will allow you to route the actual fumes and sound from the engine outdoors and be able to run several idle tanks in the garage. BE EXCEPTIONALLY CAREFUL ABOUT INHALING THE FUMES FOR BOTH YOU AND ANY PETS.

as long as your engine gets up to temp you should be ok an when you sut it off for a break or for it to cool make sure you put it in a heated house/garage/car becaus the the sleeve has to properly cool same with exspansion so if you can get it up to temp during break in try wrappin thehad in a paper towel or what you have avalible.

Didn't Olds add a doohickey to the head on his t-maxx to help keep the temps higher during the winter time?

I'm not sure he might have because it works quite well I've done it a few times myself to get the temps up there just make sure its not too tick you only need around 2 layers of thin paper towel

he had like aluminum foil and a metal clamp thing on his cooling head to keep the temps up. kinda funny looking.

Aluminum foil... man, I thought I had more credibility than that.:depress:

It was aluminum sheathing for houses. You can buy it at the hardware store. Cut a strip big enough to cover the height of head and wrap it around the head. Then use a hose clamp to clamp it on tight. Any vibration will cause radio interferance.
