Sounds like it would be a good time to tear into it and found out. I would say there is some gear damage in it.
You'll most likely have to tear it down to find out. If its not doing anything else weird it may just have thin diff oil in it and its just spinning one side. That is especially possible if you have a partially seized or dirty bearing on the other side providing a little more friction. That would make the wheel with less friction on it spin more than the other one. Id tear it apart and check all the gears and the bearings.
