Sold the GS500 last week and today, I bought a 1995 Honda CBR600F3. Mainly bought it for track days, but it'll also be used for street riding also. Anyhoo, got it for $2500, and it has 8700 miles (good deal for my area)

I have considered a nice sport bike to keep my Valkyrie company in the stable. A nice CBR1100XX would do nicely for my size! Good lookin' bike there, Kwong!

I had that EXACT bike back in the day, But mine was the "Smokin' Joes" (Camel) addition. Was a sweet bike. Youll have alot more fun with this one than your other one I think. Just curious though. How is it your dad takes away your car for driving nuts, but lets ya have a bike? When I got my 1st bike (When I was 16) I swear I could watch my moms hair turn gray.

I parted out the car, and used the money to basically buy the bike. It's technically my money. Besides, my dad has two motorcycles...he can't really talk.

ALTHOUGh, my dad isn't too happy about the bike. He doesn't like the fact that I kept the GS500 for a mere 2.5-3 months and only have 3300 miles of riding experience. Says the CBR is too much (performance wise) for me to handle. Gotta partially agree with him, it is a pretty big jump, but I wanted to get a better bike for the track, and bike's are cheap right now. If I waited until track day season, then I would have had to pay a lot more.

But anyhoo, i'm actually a pretty sane rider, I mean, I really don't get stupid like most people do. Much rather prefer riding the speed limit (or 5mph over)and not getting tickets. Plus, I value track riding more than most people with my experience. Oh, and I do wear full gear from head to toe when I ride.

Looks like the bike I laid down in Daytona during spring break (don't ask what number it was, I went a lot). Be safe!

just don't dump that thing....all the controls are expensive as hell compared to EVERY other bike in that era...and you could only use honda stuff if I remember.....that's the last bike I rode too....it was all hooked up and scared the poop out of me trying to follow really good experienced riders on country roads.......I get cold sweat thinking about that......as far as not liking to drive fast....I'm calling it BULLSHIT....you wouldn't want a bike like that and only drive it speed limit or 5mph over......I said th esame thing to my friend who sold his harley and bought a 2002 or 3 R6....he never rode a real rocket and kept telling me NO way am i gonna go zipping through traffic at 100+ mph....well after realizing 55 on those things SUCKS....he's now contemplating selling it after seeing his speedo hit 134 in hwy traffic......you'll do that w/o blinking an eye on that thing kid, be careful........

Yeah, i'd love to open it up and see all 13.5k rpm's, but I also don't want to goto jail or get another ticket (i've had 4 since I started driving 4 years ago).

LOL...get one of those lawyers on retainer if you like to drive fast in your car.....I'm sorry but speed (the physical measurement of distance travelled) is addictive...you tasted thesweet fruit in the past, now you want it again.....you sold a hopped up car cause it was allowing you to haul ass and your pop found out and got pissed....so you buy a motorcycle that's a decent cruiser type then sell that one for a crotch rocket....LOL...you ain't lying to anyone here buddy, you WANT SPEED....there is no other reason to get a bike like that......just try to keep your head on man......

Well actually, as far as the car, I had about two days before my first lapping day with it, and was actually gearing up for future autocross and lapping days. There's no doubt I like speed, but i'm really at the point where I don't want to mess around in the street.

Also, I specifically bought the cbr FOR track days next year. Not to mention I don't expect to be riding as much as I have when riding was still new to me. I know the bike isn't much of a streetbike, I knew that before I bought the bike, but like I said, it's more of my track bike.

hey I know Exactly what's going through your mind right now as does EVERY GUY who ever had or rode a motorcycle before you...right now is the intellectual side speaking.....the part of you saying "I know this is dangerous, BUT i just won't drive it like that".....post agin on this topic in 3 months and tell us how you're thinking then....LOL...I'm not knocking on you, I'm just saying I've seen this happen to EVERYONE I know who gets a cafe bike/ crotch rocket/ track bike / Rice burner...whatever you want to label it as.......in 3 months time I bet you'll be driving well over the speed limit a lot....just because you can and it's easier than going slow.......all I'm saying is be careful...3 people I know have been severely maimed from being overconfident on the bike and doing stupid stuff......you seem to have more of a clue than those guys did though.......just be careful is all....and enjoy it on the track.....

One of my closest buddies hit a deer with his cbr 954. He was wearing a brainbucket with no additional padding. Its a good thing cause he was wearing the bucket cause he cracked it. That wouldhave been his head. He had some road rash but besides that he was fine.

Back in cali I saw 2 fatals with bikes. One guy was cutting lanes during a car didn't like it so he opened his door as the bike was going by. The guy on bike didin't make it.

Another was at a traffic light cop was in a hurry lights on went through the light and got hit. Killed him on the spot. Not good! Just be safe man cause the only protection you have is using your head. Drive like everybody is out to get you and you should be ok.

My parents both work at a Hospital and call whoever rides bikes like those "Organ Doners"

My dad sees more motorcycle accidents than anything else in the OR. Just becareful. Thats a sweet bike.

YEP! drugs and these little toys are the number one reason we get people here in the trauma center. Kwong... at least you got it while you are still young and invincible, by the time I get my bike I will be old and have to ride it slow :) serously tho at least you are doing this on the track, the best way to not drive it too fast on the road is not to have it licensed, just trailer it to the track, THAT would be the safest thing!

Well i'd like to make the bike strictly track, but i'd still like to be able to ride street, or at least a little street. Hopefully when I move out, i'll be able to get another GS500 and make the F3 my track bike.

But we'll see, I know there's a lot of people that have done a track day and got so addicted they gave up riding street all today. But yes, it IS an addiction.

Man good luck on your new toy, I sold my 03 r1 to save for the 06 600rr, my best friend owns orange county honda so he can bust a hell of a deal, I have rode that same bike that you have before, Its Kind of heavy, not dissing it but it is, It was real hard to stand it up. I would have to clutch tha $hit out of it to get it up. I think the cbr 929 wich my brother in law owns would make a better track bike, his is a 02, but for the price if you drop it you wont have to come out the pocket to much, The only prob with that year is parts for it, it may be hard to find, If you ever need anything I give you the number to my friends dealer ship, He can get you parts for cheap. anyways becareful, 12'00 clock can lead to 9'15 real quick, My old bike gave me a pertty cool perment limp, lol. burn rubber not your soul. lol

The parts support isn't the greatest, but it's enough, I mean, at least it's not as bad as the GS500. I'm gonna "try" to start saving money so I won't be buying any parts for it, although, if I were, i'd need to get some rear sets and some better levers. BUT, I can live with it not being a perfect bike.

As far as track worthiness, it won the AMA supersport championship in 1995 and 1996, it's a good track bike. Granted, it's not up to par with modern supersports, but it's enough. And yeah, it's a bit heavy, but I want something that's fairly easy to ride in the upper rpm's, don't want to really deal with wheelies everytime i give it gas. Besides, it'll still do 140mph down the main straightaway at Pacific Raceways...and being fast STILL depends on the rider.

Not track pictures, but here's on of me on my bike...btw, you guys should think of this as an extreme privelege, normally I never show pictures of myself nor do I allow people to take pictures of me (if I can help it)
