Last year my wife bought me a Driving Experience through Richard Petty Driving Experience at Richmond International Raceway. The day it was originally scheduled for was rained out. We had to reschedule for almost a year later.... which was this past Friday. Let me tell you, I have never in my life had so much fun! I have never driven a car with that much Horsepower ever. You hit that gas in that thing and you are gone! The way it works is that you get 8 laps behind a lead car that works you up to a "target" time and you can work toward that time, or the instructor will "back up" to you if you are not comfortable going that fast. Your target time is a 30 seconds flat for one lap. My best lap was 30.79 seconds at 108 mph. WOW! is all I have to say. Richmond is a fast little race track. You think you are going to slide the rearend around and hit the wall... but those cars are really stuck to that track. They handled like a dream!! I could have driven much faster but they kept the speeds down since we were considered "rookies" I almost got tunnel vision I was concentrating so hard to hit my marks. They had the "groove" taped in bright colored tape marks all along the track so you knew the fast way around. It was such a blast! Can't wait to do it again.

Oh... we also paid for a ride along which is 3 laps around Richmond at speed which is 135 MPH..... your riding shotgun! That was awesome as well! Anyway... as you can tell I am excited as hell about this!!

Hell yeah!!! I bet that was insanely awesome! Congrats man.

Aw man..... what a rush. The sounds, the smells, the feel of driving that race car by yourself on that track. Me personally couldn't help but be tickled pink knowing that Jr won on that track and I was there cheering him on. It was just an awesome experience... of course I am a huge NASCAR geek!

Did they let you do a burn out????

Awesome! A few years ago I got to do a ride-along at Lowes Motorspeedway. They calimed 150mph,there's really no way of telling but it was great! I was supposed to get to drive but it didn't work out. Someday I'll go back and drive.

One thing about my ride you may appreciate Tom, the driver with his dark sunglasses and mustache looked a LOT like Dale Earnhardt.

Congrats man!!!!!!

Thats awesome Tom, I would love to do that!

BTW: I hate you too!

Did they let you do a burn out????

Nope... no burnouts allowed... I know that sucks! LOL

Tom...

I hate you.

:D

NC and Lesson... did I mention that those cars had 600 horsepower... and were also the COT models? :stick:

Yeah, what THEY said. We hate you.

What did you do in the passenger's seat, tell him to make another left?:hehe:

It all happened so fast... I just had a grin from ear to ear the whole time!

I ordered the DVD of my in car camera... should be in my hands in a few weeks.

Thats awesome Tom, I would love to do that!

He Smaxxin... they have a driving program at Talladega... you should try and do that.

Damn! I would love to do something like that.

I wonder if they have anything similar at Infineon. It's 30 minutes from my house.

They do not run at Infineon, but they do run at California Speedway. You can go to 1800bepetty.com to get more information. Not to sound like an advertisement!

Well Tom, I'm not into Nascar....

But ya can add me to the long, growing list of people who hate you.

I don't know anything about Nascar either, other than I want to drive one.

Most of us only disliked you prior to this thread, but now.....
Well, you know.

Man.... loosing so many friends has never been more woth it!! :p:

J/K guys.... really, I am surprised Rolex hasn't broke out the ol' aluminum ban stick!

I'm old school. I prefer cast iron. It takes a bit of muscle, but they don't get back up.

Ha!!! Nice!

What Rolex didn't tell you was that the Titanium prods are LiPo powered, and Brushless!
