Hey, I have a battery that's about 3 years old now but has only had about 6 complete runs all the way through ( that's until it looses charge). It's a 7 cell NiMH 4600mAh from Duratrax. When I hook it up to my charger now, my Super Brain 977 gives an error. Does this mean that the battery is no good or my charger is shot?

It probably means that the pack has a bad cell.

err.... crap, that sucks

What are the best and cheapest NiMh you can get out there that are 7 cell?

best and cheapest should almost never be used in the same sentence.

Is that charger very adjustable? You could attempt to charge it at a very low rate.

I'm currently working on "bringing back" a number of Nimh packs. Car packs and Rx packs. I have a pair of IB5000 packs that got overdischarged but I've managed to get one to take a charge at .1A with a 25mv cutoff. It's been going for 28 hours now. about 2 more days to go :)

Well, no big worries as far as my battery goes. I went to Hobbytown USA and tried the charger they had there ( don't remember the name of it but it looked high end with balancer inside). They hooked it up and my battery started taking a charge. I took it home and hooked it into my Super Brain 977 and it actually started charging. I guess my SB 977 won't see a battery connected if the charge is so low. It's good news anyways :D
