Welcome to RCT!Anyone know if I have to pull the the trans to do a motor swap??
Or a source for assembly/disassembly views of the single speed trans/motor portion??
Thanks
I "think" we tried to help you with diagrams and some advice.Anyone know if I have to pull the the trans to do a motor swap??

It sounded like you had some ideas of what to expect.Wish I could do computer stuff like that - but looking at my truck it APPEARS that screws 144 hold
cover 232064 on and it should pop off unimpeded - if so this will be real easy.
When the motor arrives I'll just have to give it a go.
Perhaps we didn't understand the question?I see there ain't alot of help in this place - later
What other forums are out there that would help people enjoy the hobbie?
Not a lot of help? You're trying to do a VERY simple mechanical procedure on an RC car. You were shown an exploded view with the exact screws needed to be removed to do what you asked how to do, which is something my 10 year old kid could understand. And something you could have easily looked up yourself. Being mechanically inclined is something that is very important in this hobby. Maybe you need to look into something else. We can't hold your hand through a computer screen and turn the wrenches for you.I see there ain't alot of help in this place - later

In all fairness, Jerold answered your yes/no question. This forum is not clicky. We help everyone. Again, as Grey said, if the info posted was not helpful, all you need to do is ask another question. Pics of your kit would help a lot. But generally, swapping a motor is a really straightforward process of removing two screws and soldering the leads to the new motor.Well a ford trans view is of little help and making tools on the trail is not what I was after.
I searched for hours doing research even before I purchased my toy.
Exploded views help some but first hand knowledge is most helpful.
The first line asks a yes or no question - pretty straight forward and 1st post???
As for going back to 10 years old that ship has sailed.
The original question was a simple, do I have to remove the trans to do motor/pinion
maintenance?
I wasn't aware this hobby was so clicky I might have made a mistake.
But I'll make do some how.
My other interests don't reflect the lets say spirit this place offers
Sign of the times I guess - I'll confine my activity to search mode.
Hey, nice choice with the BaseCamp. I think it’s a pretty new model so most of us do not have experience with it. Probably why knowone could give you first hand advice. It looks very good though, and is on my list of models I want. Really like how low the new transmission is compared to the two speed one of the fancier scx10iii’s. Hope you got this sorted out already, what motor are you swapping to? Sometimes for better slow crawling performance it’s better to swap out the esc to a hobbywing 1080 esc and leave the stock motor.Well a ford trans view is of little help and making tools on the trail is not what I was after.

and Jerold's answer was just as simple as the question. The original question was a simple, do I have to remove the trans to do motor/pinion

Technically if you can get to all the screws, then no. But it's probably easier to pop the motor trans than mess around with all the weird angles.
