Hallo All,
Now on I'm a little bit confuse to buy this electrical combo.
I'm considering buying this electrical combo, the Hobbywing QuicRun 10BL120 Sensored ESC and the XERUN BANDIT G4R 13.5T-OBL motor. I'm planning to use it for my RC Rally, and to be honest, my budget for this combo is a bit limited.

FYI : my current electrical combo :
- ESC Ezrun max10 g2 (80A)
- Motor ezrun 3652SD 4100kv g3

Do you think this is a good choice, or would you suggest something else?

What are you looking to get from this swap?
I am not positive but thinking you'll lose some RPM but will prob gain torque.

I've never run an open can motor like that in dirty, dusty conditions. Not sure if that would be an issue.

If you are racing on a track, always consult the rules before installing a new motor. 👍

Basically my motor has to old,
and my ESC its only 80A and the size are too big. dimension of ESC Ezrun its very big and heavy.

by the way, I need updated electrical parts but still competitive, so thats why I will change to Xerun Bandit G4R 13.5T.
and ESC quicrun, its has a greater current strength (120A, and also more smaller and more lighter.

but for performance I didn't know.

talking about the rule in Indonesia:
- ESC maximum 140A
- Motor no rule.

I believe the esc is even larger than you need but should work fine with that motor.

Be sure the sensor leads will mate. You may need an adapter from round (on motor) to flat shape connector (on esc).

I think the 13.5 will have lower kv but has a lot more low and mid range power. You should be able to gear up to get some top end speed.

The advantage this motor has is its power to get you in and out of the turns quickly.

This is a similar post that might help you too. 👍😁

I would be reluctant to run a motor like that on loose dirt, especially under a body that sits over the wheels. Lots of debris will be able to make it in through those vent holes.

Considering you're looking at the BL120 and bandit, you're probably not looking to be playing with motor/esc timing.

If you're racing 2s then I would check out this Hobbywing XR10 Justock G3S Sensored Brushless ESC/SD G2.1 Motor Combo (10.5T). Its currently on sale here in the US, and also comes in a couple dollars less than the QR and Bandit combo.

The motor still has vents, but far fewer. The XR10 is going to feel more precise than the QuicRun. Its also a sensored combo, which will only add to the buttery smooth throttle and braking feel. But its only rated for 60a. I'm not sure how hard rally racing is on an esc, but I know the guys running offroad carpet run the crap out of these things and they still keep chugging.

Your current 4100kv is going to put your around 12-10.5 turns, so as long as your current motor isnt too warm at the end of each race the 10.5 should be a safe bet and will feel petty similar speed and power wise.

The only thing that worries me about this setup are the vent holes in the motor. They won't get along with all the dirt that a rally car picks up. But unfortunately it looks like that's how most 1/10 race motors are. Ill keep searching and let you know if I can find anything else.

I've changed my mind, and don't know how I overlooked this. If you're looking for a budget racing combo then Rocket RC is the way to go. They've become damn near the only escs and motors that I run. Incredible performance for the price. I would probably run This combo. But this motor still has vents, at least theyre limited to the end bells. And its not going to be waterproof.

The hardest thing ablut finding a good setup for this application is the sheer amount of abuse and debris that rally cars go through 😅

Yes sure, I think so
My RC have ratio 6.5:1 means its more heavy than other rc. (Ratio buggy +-8.5:1)
I hope with xerun bandit 13.5T its get more torque.

Ahhh I see, so thats why I ask in this forum.
I'm a little hesitant to buy the QR 120.

Juststock combo its not my option, because the esc is too weak, and also there are not too many setting control.

Absolutely my dream is XR10Pro
But today I check in onlinestore in Indonesia, XR10 pro legacy has coming to Indonesia, so maybe I will choice it. With the cheapest price than xr10pro g3s.

And talking about the motor, bandit 13.5t have 3800kV the gap its not so big with my current motors, but I believe this motor have a good torque than ezrun

Anyway, how do you think about the xr10 pro legacy? Its a good choice or not?
Btw, now I change my mine🤣

Anyway thank you for your feedback.

Rocket RC its not so popular here,
And I still want to buy Hobbywing product by the way,

Yes, you’re right
We’re play in outdoor like WRX rally.
So when I bought this motors, I should maximized my dust cover.
thank you for your attention

I hope with xerun bandit 13.5T its get more torque....
My thoughts are pretty much like that of @Beer_Goggles_RC ... if your current motor is not doing it for you, the 13.T motor (even though it is an outlaw motor) may be a letdown in terms of RPM and torque. I'm constantly restricting an EZRun 4100kv motor's output to tame things down on a 4wd mini truggy. I don't know. Maybe a 13.5T with boost/timing advanced could get the job done... I'd be concerned with heat then.

Owh ya, if you want to know more about the track, I’ve made a video to see the track and average track conditions in Indonesia

That track looks like a ton of fun! Awesome!:thumbs-up:
I like the flip flop obstacle.😆

You def need adjust timing to get the most out of that bandit motor. 👍

That track looks so fun! You clearly are a good driver. Its your shoe throwing, heckler friends that are the issue! 🤣
Thank you,
Ahahaha sometimes we need a funny moment for fresh so that our mind are clear.

Yes, I hope so.
the ezrun 4100 its not so quick acceleration and I think the sensor are not usefull. its not smooth... maybe Bandit can handle it.
but ya, know I should choice the ESC.

What car is this combo in? The Max10 80a G2 with the 3652 G3 4100kv should be plenty of power for the HNR Foxhound, the Rlaarlo xts F10/S10, or other 1/10 rally cars. What battery are you using?

I'm using HNR Foxhound RC Rally.
It doesn’t really seem like the issue is about the motor being underpowered.
For me, it’s more like:

  1. I’m considering an upgrade to the Xerun Bandit 13.5T G4R because I’m hoping for a smoother overall feel, when entering and exiting corners
  2. I also want to increase the current handling capacity, since the RC racing regulation in Indonesia allows up to 150A. Using the Ezrun 80A feels a bit limiting, especially because the ESC is quite big and heavy, which makes it less competitive for racing, in my opinion.

I would be worried about the dirt getting into the open vents of that motor.
The hobbywing esc's are big and bulky, they always have been. Isn't that motor and esc you have sensored? The only way to get smoother would be a sensored system and the G2 Max10 is already sensored.
You already have a great system in that car (if it is the G2) so maybe you need to adjust gearing with a pinion change or go up on the battery voltage. Are you running 2s or 3s and what kind of battery do you use? All batteries are NOT created equally.

Talking about the batteries, I’m using 2S 150C 5000mAh.
Because the regulation is 2S.

yes Ezrun offcourse sensored. ezrun is bulky, and thats the problem.
Its made my rc is not have centre of gravity.
With using pinion 19, the final ratio is 6.5:1

If Hobbywing is too much weight, then it is time to switch to a different manufacturer.
The combo you have is literally cookie cutter perfect.
Try dropping 1 tooth on the pinion gear, or getting a better tire

I think the link is busted. Is this the one you meant? That's an incredible price. Is the 6v BEC they list in the specs correct?

Yeah thats the one! I love them. On the programming card BEC is listed as 6.4/7.4 and 7.4/8.4 whatever that means. Ill have to check my programming manual
