I don't know anything about these trucks but I see different versions avail.
I can buy one used but if I buy it, I want it to run it.
I don't need any more shelf queens!
Any reason for or against buying an early version of this truck?

Scx10 parts are scarce.
Scx10ii are getting scarce unfortunately.

Version one was open diffs. Version two was locked and used worm gears to prevent torque twist. The third version is on my list and has portals.

The first version can be moved with lockable diffs.

Are they all relatively interchangeable at least?

So if it has Axial diffs, this would mean...??? (it lists these upgrades but I have no idea what they mean.)
The first versions had diffs that you could buy a locker for. Imasumming its that.

The guy below has a video how to lock and unlock them via remote and mods.

The scx10 and scx10ii were similar but different. The scx10.3 is tge totally different one.

I'd be learning, so crashing and breaking.
I'd want something somewhat capable, could even do with a trail/hiking rig but parts are a thing.
I don't know what breaks on these or are they bullet proof more or less?

I'm looking at one of these trying to acquire funds. It needs electronics. It's was recently discontinued

They have tons of aftermarket support. The 10.2 is dwindling away.

I’m not much help to be honest 😂 we just have one trx4 right now (well some minis too). Wouldn’t think much would break, but I also see majins posts 🤣

Thats pretty bad-ass looking!

Lol! Well yeah, @majin vids got me thinking well hell, if he can crash like that... 🤣
Crawling seems like something fun for the winter here. Maybe a 1/10 scale is too big for indoors even.

crawling is seriously fun, even more fun when done right rather than how i do it lolol, its challenging and satisfying when you get your truck to overcome some obstacle, tey are surprisingly durable for sure, i consistantly break mine and then just fix em up once i get parts in no biggie, most parts are pretty cheap under 30 bucks in general.
i can't wait to crawl in the snow. note to self dont forget snow insulates the motor lol

And DON'T make me say it again!!! 🤣

LOL!
I was thinkng to build somthing to crawl with INSIDE over the winter.
I am hopeful but the realities of me making it to the track every weekend, 45 mins away during this snowy winter...
I'm thinking back up plan.
The Optima is still getting built tho. I WANT to race again!

Yeah, his builds are stunning! I've never seen a vehicle do the things his do!

This truck is killer but is about 2x the price of the SCX and the SCX is with a couple others.
Essentially it just sounds like a deal too good...
This is my reasoning for asking.
Crawling might or might not be fun for me so considering the plunge.
the basecamp @MVRCA has foor sale is a great deal, its cheaper than from the factory and already has some very nice upgrades on it so saving even more money there. 10/10 would recomend getting that basecamp. if you dont it wont be there for long. trust me lol
if you were to get the already upgraded version however. you are kind of cheating yourself of a LOT of fun that comes from seeing what needs an upgrade or which one you want to do, like o man i need more weight down low in front to keep my tires glued to the ground or, man i wish it was a little slower/faster for getting up n over,
glad your trying to get into a new discipline bro! welcome to the slow side
