Anyone running nitrous?

Holy crap. Another noob who claims nitrous is good! The derp is running in packs now!

But in all honesty, how do you know it makes more power? All it does is leans it out really really badly and causes the motor to high rev. That's not power.

I wouldn't say it is good thing.....the killing glowplugs tends to make its uses completely out of the question for me....... There is nothing like losing a $700.00 Novarossi Virtus from crushing a glowplug coil between the piston and liner....no thanks....

But yes a customer of mine built himself a proper functioning wet nitrous setup from scratch..executed completely differently then any kit ..it was very cleverly done.........It made huge power , but it was extremely harsh on the glowplugs ... This guy does top speed runs and uses expensive engines so he had to abandon the project because the plugs couldn't be trusted..... For those that don't know a glowplug element is very dangerous to your engine...one small particle of that wire can completely destroy a engine. So if every run you take you blow your glowplug apart things can get very expensive very fast........... Anyways true story, you guys would be amazed at some of the stuff some of these guys can make work.....there are some very clever people out there who live their life to prove the naysayers wrong.... this particular fellow is just one of those guys.........

If it's costing you a motor every single run, then you proved exactly what I posted above. It works very well at emptying your wallet. I can strap a big NX setup on a junk yard crap box econo car and make some good 1/4 numbers for one run (for the type of car is started life as), but it's going to grenade the engine because it's simply not designed for it, much like nitro RC mills. People with very deep pockets who can afford it can certainly prove that it makes power (only when on the NX by the way, as it will either have to be tuned very rich everywhere else and run like crap off the bottle, or be so lean when on the bottle that you're cooking bearings, pistons, and motors), but at a very high cost, that was my point, and I stand by it.

Yep, I found out the same thing, it does eat glow plugs. I found running a colder glow plug does seem to help. We do a lot of straight line drag racing and the nitrous does deliver a lot quicker acceleration.

I havnt blow a engine yet and have ran over a gallon on the gas. I have run nitrous for years on both my Harley and on my Acura RSX without any engine problems. You have to increase fuel when running nitrous, this is where most people mess up engines. When you spray nitrous your engine temp actually drops.

You need to back up and read post #54 I left for you.

I didn't use it....a customer of mine had it on his car.......and it is a wet system.... the engine runs normally off the juice....

this guy keeps saying he uses nitrous on four strokes.. of course its going to be "semi" ok for four strokes... but were talking about 2 stroke nitro engines, they dont even compare in the slightest lol

Proof! You say you have a video of it going fast on nitrous. That's not proof. Like I said before, all you are doing is starving your motor of the fuel which it is designed around and leaning it out causing it to over rev. You might get a little more speed out of it due to your motor destroying itself, but that's not power. Put it on a dyno. You think insulting thousands of people makes you feel better? All that does is proves just how stupid that you actually are.

FFA please.

Unfortunately, most people don't know the difference between wet and dry nitrous systems. EVERY nitrous system that I have seen for our RC nitro engines are a dry type system. This means that no additional fuel is added and causes a lean running (read high RPM) situation with very little power and a damaged engine.
