Hello all!!
As the title says, anyone is running such set up??

I'm in the process of turning my trx4-sport into a belly dragger (as best as I can) and i haven't even hit the rocks and I'm already feeling guilty of "cheating" with the 2.2's I've got. I went that route because the wheels were a gift I just said might as well try it. Any advantages/disadvantages of running a 2.2 set up? I'm not doing any comps.

Thanks in advance.

I have some traxxas factory 2.2's from a high trail on my Axial Capra. If there are any disadvantages, I'm not aware of them. It only made it crawl better. It is an open wheel buggy though. It would be tough to run them on a TRX4 that wasn't lifted or heavily modified.

I got the xd Rockstar in 2.2 for my wrangler. Mone is for looks. If some cheating happens I won't complain. Keep in mind because it's a 2.2 doesn't mean the outside diameter is greater then some 1.9 combos.

This is what i have so far, working on trimming the body and adjusting the suspension a bit but thisnis pretty close to what it'll look like once finished.

RUN EM BRO! my wraith looks goofy with 1.9 on it and i noticed an immediate difference when i swapped it over to allegedly better tires in a 1.9. doodie, absolute doodie. and me being me i threw 2.2's on em all at one point, just kept swapping the wheels around, every rig performed aslightly better, but i always lost some turning radius, and the body rubbed horribly in the front, other than those 2 "issues" id run 2.2 on all my rigs if i had em lol

Typically when you jump up in tire OD a significant amount, you are gonna want to address your track width at the same time. Trick is to not run too wide of hubs or the knuckles will catch. You may also find a need to stretch the wheelbase some a bit.

But yeah, if you can make them work it tends to help in chunky terrain.

Awesome picture! What tires inserts are you using ? I haven't been able to take my truck out but I'm debating if I should swal the foam for the injora blue or green inserts or keep it with the stock foams amd test it out. Also, brass inserts in the front only, should I wait for those or is the upgrade worth it?

Thanks in advance!

My rule of thumb is to always test with what you have before you make any changes. Then change one thing at a time. Now, like most of us, if you just wanna get out on the trail and play, then change what you like.

Here is a link to a view with the product details in there. Gives you and idea of what we are running and the results.

That's what I was planning to do but I suffer from "I want everything upgraded right now!" 🤣🤣 I will see how it goes the way it is and adjust as I see fit.
