Anyone know about the X-ray XT8-24?

I haven't heard much about these X-rays, if they're generally good quality and have a lot of part support or compared to others like Team Associated or Losi?

Xray is a 'luxury' brand. @DavidB1126 uses their shampoo and is currently saving for a bottle of conditioner.

They make very nice RC's generally speaking. Their parts can be rather expensive. The qualuty is clear to see however.

I would reaserch parts avail in your area to see if its locally carried or if everything will be ordered online.

Have you visited your local tracks at all?
You would do well to visit and get an idea of what cars are run and why.
Usually racers are happy to talk about their cars so you shouldn't have much trouble getting plenty of info that pertains directly to your area and which cars are winning.

I'm just wondering because I'm in the market for a decent race truggy and yes, I have visited one called Larry's so far and most of them run Team associated or Losi which I like both but I'm trying to look at everything. I want something not super high end, just mids

Its a good idea to consider all options before buying.
I think Xray might still be a good choice. Its up to your wallet.
Once you know what type of RC you want to buy, I think its wise to buy the best platform you can afford in that class. Then upgrade as you need.

Xray is one of the top of the line brand in terms of quality, build, support, drivers, ect. Very good brands. Doesn't mean others aren't good but all are pretty good and fair imo. Associated, Losi (Ehh, the horizon deal kinda ruins me with it), Tekno, X-ray, Kyosho I think does 8th scale, Sworks, Mugen, Mayko, Tekno. Those are the leading 8th scale chassis brands.

Haven't seen a XT8 in a while but man those colors on the body are killer, in the picture in OP.

If I'm investing in a decent quality race buggy I wouldn't mind paying anywhere from $300-$700'ish. I don't need anything that's over the top, just something that's good

That kind of worries me because more money does not always mean the best. I really want a truggy and I like what I hear about Tekno but their buggies don't look like I like BUT that's not a deal breaker.

I like the truggies that look like this

But I don't think Tekno makes truggies in that style.

Usually tracks that have HSs connected to them and racers there run Xray most likely they'll have a parts section for them to keep them running when needed at times. Like for example at one of my old local tracks they had X-ray for the racers but didn't stock it on a wall. They just have a medium size box for replacement parts and you can order through them to get kits as well.

@JohnnyOctopuss, yea tekno truggy bodies are more boxy like cab. Instead of sleeker ones like you mentioned above.

Yea Serpent is another brand but rarely gets ran by in modern times. They used to be alive in well like 10 yrs ago and they just died out here in the US. Some might still run them overseas especially in Europe but not sure.

Hobao and serpent both have 1/8 too I think. I am not real familiar with them either but might be worth looking too.

With me with 1/10 I went with associated as the kit I have now for 4wd buggy was on sale for 300 when I got it. And for 2wd I went with Losi because I got it used from one of my race buddies for a great deal I couldn't pass up so I'm pretty unbiased between all of the chassis brands.

If you are just going by "looks", then yes, I understand about some truggy bodies having love/hate issue. I like the traditional truggy bodies as well.... whatever traditional is . Sometimes with adjustable body mounts, and the right shock tower, a person can make things work. That's what I 'm hoping for at least. I just ordered a body (For Tekno ET48 2.0) that I absolutely go bonkers for.

Might be able to fit a body like tgat or similar to a Tekno. Proline racing and jconcepts.net have a search by car. Maybe they have something similar?

Yes, the Tekno body isn't my favorite but it was designed to be aerodynamic for that chassis. I like the classic, vintage looking stuff too.

Bodies are pretty easy to swap and get the look you like.

That JConcepts looks way better IMO!!!

You can use whatever body you want to put on your etruggy. I’ve been very happy so far with my tekno, yes I changed the body. I’m see you prefer the older style body. Which I do like, just went with the newer style for performance benefits.
