I didn't care much in previous years about running full bodies. My primary concern was protecting my engines on roof landings. So I tended to make roll bars out of 5/16" steel rod that was bent using a torch and vice, since I lack proper stuff to weld.

On my t-maxx's back in the day, I just used bumpers as wear bars and on the top of the rear body post after the body got it's rear ripped off, which was usually 10 minutes into the first bash session with a new body, then I'd run half bodies for a couple years at a time.
