Any reason NOT to buy a 1/10 slash ultimate??

after getting my Raptor R, I like the Traxxas design (except for the driveshaft hole) , then got a Raptor 2WD and did the LCG chassis and really am impressed!. The slash Ultimate seems so packed with all the stuff I did....but I have never owned a slash 4X4. Other then price, and downsides??

I like the Extreme heavy duty suspension components better than the aluminum (if that's what the ultimate has). The Slash 4x4 is identical to your Raptor R except for the shorter chassis plate.

I sent my last ultimate back a few weeks ago, it was pretty much unchanged from all the older Ultimate's I already had.
By older and being the same other then clip-less body the Ultimate seemed to have been unchanged in the past 6 to 7 years.
It is still a great SC truck, and if you dont already have several of them that simply need the clip-less conversion its still likely a good choice.
For the money I do thing the Losi Tenacity TT is little better value, especially what I paid for the one I bought this week. Both the Ultimate and TT pro list for 499.00, not seen any deals at all on the Ultimate lately.

This link below is the same TT pro I just added to my collection and tested it last nigtht. It performs very similar to my slash ultimates.
Honestly for $100 less and very similar in overall comparison. Only kicker is the TT pro does not have a clip-less body.

If staying in the Traxxas family, I like the slash ultimate in the pure SC category.

I do agree with 9x19, the Raptor R ultimate is a much newer model, and is likely the better truck with better components.

I think it's a great platform no reason to no buy it. Go For it if you want one i recommend them since parts support is a Traxxas' best strength there's a reason i've always i only stick with Arrma\Losi\Horizon, Traxxas and Team Associated. Even if they're a bit dated you will most likely have to replace the 2 in 1 combo in a Senton 223s and all the Slashes come with decent electronics the 223s have LVC issues that for some reason Horizon\Arrma won't change anytime soon.

That’s probably the longest running 4x4 SCT from any manufacturer. Will you win races with it? Maybe… depends on how bad of a driver everyone else is. Will it bash though? Absolutely! It’s not going to handle as good as a Tekno or a Losi. But, it’ll be plenty durable and handle fine for the average joe playing around in a dirt field.

You got over a decades worth of aftermarket support, information and parts for that platform. Even if Traxxas discontinued it tomorrow, you’d be able to run it care free for another decade. To be honest, the short course game lately has been kind of weak. Nothing like it was when the craze originally blew up. The slash 4x4 has aged well IMO… you wouldn’t have caught me saying that in 2012. 🤣 I’d say go for it.
