Just wondering if any of you are into vintage audio. My family still has most of my grandpas audio stuff. I got a vintage Pioneer SX-750 receiver used to be paired with Acculab 440 speakers. Used to have Bose 301 speakers in the living room but now are in my uncles living room. Since the receiver isn't getting used anymore I want to get it to a audio store to get it cleaned up. (Still works good but had been collecting a lot of dust) Also plan to find a pair of vintage speakers to go with it and might put the speakers and receiver next to my RC workbench. Right now for my whole basement set up I got a Yamaha RX-V385 receiver paired up with the same Acculab speakers which my grandpa mounted on the wall.

I’m into vintage hifi, used to buy and sell a lot of gear. My main interest were infinity speakers from the early ‘70’s to late ‘80’s. I still will pick up stuff now and then but am down to a few really fine pieces.
The ones my wife are standing next to are Infinity Quantum Line Source. I drove 800miles round trip to get them. I spent hours and hours restoring them to spec. The 4430 JBL’s (size and weight of a washer and dryer) came from a conference center that was being demolished, amazing speaker, design was so good Jbl made them nearly unchanged for 18 years. The McIntosh stack I bought from an elderly couple that were downsizing. I had to pay up for it but it is really nice. The last pic is the infinity RS2.5 (next to a single infinity Quantum that’s been restored) which is another fine speaker from the early 80’s.
I love those 70’s and 80’s receivers too, like the one you have in the op. The fact that so many still work and sound great is a testament of how well they were made. Take the dust cover off and spray the switches with a cleaner like Deoxit and move them back and forth like 50 times. Sometimes a capacitor might go bad or there’s a grounding issue but mostly they just need a cleaning.

I use to have that receiver back in the 80's ,I wished that I would have never sold it ,I didnt have the original speakers to it ,
but I built my own by using some off the wall speakers & good heavy well built speaker boxes that had the cross over set up
already in them with insulation ,I ran 12'' woofer ,10'' woofer ,4'' mid & horn tweeter!
The system could be heard from 2 blocks away with only the receiver an no amp or EQ ,it had a true sound an I miss it so much!

There was a Guy on Y-tube that posted his up!..

Probably not. She might even keep it for me if I want to get into it when I get older. Right now I play sax for school band. But I always wanted to play guitar.
Do it up bro, guitar is an amazing instrument! Then again the sax can be awesome as well. One of my all time favorite pink floyd songs has the most amazing sax part! :)

Deep purple - Smoke on the water and Dire straights - Money for nothing has some good guitar in it.
When I get into guitar Ill just need a amp. Since my dad is a DJ he has plenty of 1/4 cables and xlr cables. If I really want to I can always hook it up to the stereo.

Check out the Line 6 Spider IV. You can pick em up for less than $200 and they are a modeling amp so you can get all kinds of sounds and effects out of it. Its a great beginner amp. I've been researching them, I'm pretty sure I'm about to pick one up to carry back and forth to my buddies house :)

Old gurl still going. Audio output is amazing and so clear. Hooked up the speakers back to the old pioneer receiver since the pioneer receiver is actually more clear and has more bass than the newer Yamaha receiver. And had to hook it back up since it's new years. Some new years we just crank up the stereo full blast and annoy our neighbors (that smoke pot). The pioneer sx750 still going good. The only thing wrong with it is that some knobs are staticky and it is really dusty and dirty. Plan to get it up to the local vintage audio store 30 mins away to get the knobs replaced and get it all clean.

The pioneer is 50 watts each side and the Yamaha is 70 watts each size. The acculab 440 speakers are rated up to 50 watts so if we crank up the Yamaha receiver, the speakers distort really bad. So the acculab and the pioneer is the best fit with each other.
Also a fun fact this pioneer sx750 is a rare vintage receiver. I think I saw somewhere that there was less than 1000 made. They were only made for 1 year between 1976 and 1977
I like the pioneer receiver but since it vintage it don't have Bluetooth. That means I can't Bluetooth my phone for music all the way to my workbench. But that's ok I can use the Yamaha 5 disk cd changer I have.

Or I can use my record player. Yes ever see a 14 yr old these days using old school records? I got a couple of the big records (I think 33lp it is) and a lot of my grandpa's old smaller ones (I think 45lp or something idk)
Does she want to sell it? :)

Found this ole power meter in the basement. I hooked it up to the stereo. Its not needed but it looks cool to see how much watts its using. At least I know it works.
