I went to the LHS this afternoon after a trip to the zoo with my wife and kid. I walked in the store intending to buy ONLY a different set of 75MHZ Crystals.

I walked out with the crystals, and this.........

It's a good thing work is slow, and I'm not getting any overtime. *sarcasm*

How did your wife take it, mine would have killed me. I like your choice of, AHEM, crystals.

It's better if you get you're wife into the same hobbie. It worked for me:banana:
cool rig!

I agree with ya Clintd...shes not there yet, but does support my habit rather well! lol

Boy... I guess crystals do come in all shapes and sizes!

I'm lucky as well. My wife actually was with me when I first walked into a hobby store the week after christmas... we were shopping for each other as we normally do. We buy little things for each other on christmas day, then go out after christmas and shop together. She got a $200 purse and $100 worth of shoes/perfume, I got a xxx-nt. I had absolutly no intent on buying a RC anything. They just caught my eye in the display case in the mall. I said something like "I remember wanting one of those when I was a kid, but my parents couldn't afford it." The she replied "Lets go look and see what it takes to leave here with one!" We found out it takes about $400.

I went to the hobby shop to get fuel. Mini-t had been out for about 6 months. After I showed it to the wife, we were leaving with one. Not much money, but she hasn't said a lot about anything I have bought.

She did comment on an aircraft engine I bought once. Didn't have a plane to put it in. :hehe:
She didn't say much then. Just asked why I wanted it if I didn't have a plane for it? I told her how it was a good deal and I'll use it on something. It still hasn't seen any use.

After looking over this thing for the last couple hours, I'm not sure if this is what I wanted. I was never really one for Traxxas or RTRs for that matter.

My only other Nitro is a Hyper 7 Pro, and it was my first. I figured if I was going to get into the hobby, I wanted to build my own, my way. A buddy of mine has buggys and stadium trucks, xxx-nts to be exact. After seeing how much fun it was to drive a 2wd truck in the loose dirt, I had decided my next Nitro was going to be a stadium truck.

I can really beat on my 7 without the fear of breaking anything major, but this thing is nothing but plastic.

I have only been in the hobby for about 2 years, and have not yet had to spend a bunch of money on new parts, and hop-ups. The only things that I needed to replace were rims, tires, and a CVA joint. I can see this truck might get a little costly. I already don't like the electronics, and after a closer look, it's the same 27MHZ frequency as my sons Stampede. I'll have to change that over to 75.*** to run it with my 2PL. The servos are definately going to get replaced, and the rims and tires have to go. I'm still undecided if I like Traxxas' EZ-Start system. It looks like a cluster of wires, and extra weight to me. I'll take a starter box, and Glow plug ignitor anyday.

I think for now I will only use the Jato for the parking lots, and keep the bashing to the buggy.

Who knows.........maybe this thing will suprise me. My 4 year old sons electric Stamped really takes a beating, and I'm not laying down money for that thing all the time.

I hate impulse buys. It's not even the color I like, but red is all they had in stock.

I was looking at thoes too while I was there. I should have bought that instead. I'm beging to regret my purchase. That all may change once I run the Jato though.

Give it a chance bro. If ya don't like it, give it to the kid. Don't figure the wife will say anything.
Tell her you had the kid in mind to start with. :hehe:

My jato is the 2.5R The only major thing I suggest replacing is the front 2 a-arms, and the servos. My daughter hit a concrete curb at "wot" doing like 45mph and cracked one a-arm in 2 spots. RPM makes a-arms that are gauranteed for life. Other than that, the jato is silly fast once you get the tranny shift dialed where you want, and it will take a good beating as well.
