i don't think they did a factory team RC10. i think they just did the "worlds car". don't think the "factory team kit" started until the second gen buggy. which was blue hardware, blue titanium turnbuckles, third gen buggy/truck had blue aluminum rear chassis plate and motor mount and front kick up. and i think blue aluminum shock bodies. and it had a graphite chassis, suspension arms, and shock towers.
so i figure if they're going to do a bunch of special editions why not go all out and make a "factory team kit" that never existed.
It seems like they are building the stuff we wanted at Associated now so maybe they will offer FT or Massimo or a whole A&L/MiP 4x4 conversion next?!?!
The prices ARE high BUT the RC10 IS an icon and there is no debating that. They do have this part of the market cornered.
I'm lucky... I remember well what it was like to race against these cars. I remember how cool a whole track full of RC10's racing each other actually was.
There's a whole generation of r/c racers who NEED to experience this again before ppl start looking at the older R/C's as irrelevant and museum pieces.
RC10's belong on a track.
I contacted Associated prior to my return to this forum.
I wanted to buy o'rings for my 30 year old RC10 shocks.
I thought I should try Associated and maybe open up some communication and establish some purchase history.
Instead of being met with...
Hi,
All 1st gen RC10 shock o-rings are the same and have been for a long time. No need to worry about metric and standard sizes between re-re's or other models.
Here's your part #...
I got met with questions about model numbers and the length and stroke of the shock and how its important to know blah blah...
I felt like I was being "tested". Like I was trying to steal Associated "secrets" so I could start my own aftermarket shock company or something.
My next questions were to ask if Associated was planning to back up the re-re's with parts or if the intent was to put them on the shelf.
Again, met with "manufacturer doesn't inform us (associated parts dept) of parts availibility prior to arrival of the parts.
This was when they were taking pre-orders.
These answers prompted me to put my RC10 away and get back to work on my vintage Kyosho Optimas.
I seriously am annoyed that they waited and dragged their feet with parts coverage.
They DID push me back into Kyosho and I'm REALLY enjoying my restos so there's that.
Parts is parts, sure but the parts dept needs to step it up a notch or 8!
