They come as parts... just have to order a complete set at once. :hehe:
Apparently a new 1 run and done sort of concept from Associated? 🤣
Maybe there's an Associated R/C salvage yard where we can go to pick thru pieces parts! 🤣
I DO understand the point of shelf queen cars but I feel like we've got to the point where if a new generation of ppl can only look at RC10's on shelves, never run them, the importance and awesomeness of its design will also be lost on that shelf.
Honestly, who would give a crap about a Corvette if all you could do was look at it in a showroom and never saw it on the road or heard the thunder from a 427 tripower with sidepipes resonating though a fiberglass chassis???
The car is utterly impractical otherwise but we still love them!
I wouldn't buy a Corvette to put in my livingroom either.
Even if it was shiny and red! 🤣

Do you mean the "Team Car" from 1990? I don't remember a blue shock Factory Team buggy.
i don't think they did a factory team RC10. i think they just did the "worlds car". don't think the "factory team kit" started until the second gen buggy. which was blue hardware, blue titanium turnbuckles, third gen buggy/truck had blue aluminum rear chassis plate and motor mount and front kick up. and i think blue aluminum shock bodies. and it had a graphite chassis, suspension arms, and shock towers.
so i figure if they're going to do a bunch of special editions why not go all out and make a "factory team kit" that never existed.

It seems like they are building the stuff we wanted at Associated now so maybe they will offer FT or Massimo or a whole A&L/MiP 4x4 conversion next?!?!
The prices ARE high BUT the RC10 IS an icon and there is no debating that. They do have this part of the market cornered.
I'm lucky... I remember well what it was like to race against these cars. I remember how cool a whole track full of RC10's racing each other actually was.
There's a whole generation of r/c racers who NEED to experience this again before ppl start looking at the older R/C's as irrelevant and museum pieces.
RC10's belong on a track.
I contacted Associated prior to my return to this forum.
I wanted to buy o'rings for my 30 year old RC10 shocks.
I thought I should try Associated and maybe open up some communication and establish some purchase history.
Instead of being met with...
Hi,
All 1st gen RC10 shock o-rings are the same and have been for a long time. No need to worry about metric and standard sizes between re-re's or other models.
Here's your part #...

I got met with questions about model numbers and the length and stroke of the shock and how its important to know blah blah...
I felt like I was being "tested". Like I was trying to steal Associated "secrets" so I could start my own aftermarket shock company or something.
My next questions were to ask if Associated was planning to back up the re-re's with parts or if the intent was to put them on the shelf.
Again, met with "manufacturer doesn't inform us (associated parts dept) of parts availibility prior to arrival of the parts.
This was when they were taking pre-orders.
These answers prompted me to put my RC10 away and get back to work on my vintage Kyosho Optimas.

I seriously am annoyed that they waited and dragged their feet with parts coverage.

They DID push me back into Kyosho and I'm REALLY enjoying my restos so there's that.
Parts is parts, sure but the parts dept needs to step it up a notch or 8!

I wish they'd have released these a while ago!
The prices are about in line with what I'd expect. Not cheap but not crazy either.
There is some hope for Associated after all??? 🤣
I'm pretty much at the end of my 1/10 scale 2wd RCing days. My three T4 platforms are all I have left as far as my 2wd rides go. If they would have done the re-re platforms (especially the RC10T) a few years earlier, yes, I'd probably have gotten one, two, or three. My funds all got pushed to 4wd RC rides now.

Hope for Team Associated? 🤔 :wtf:
From my viewpoint, I thought there was hope as well. But, no mini-truggy, and no 4wd SCT kits... I felt left down. Yeah, I know, I'm way out in left field with what Team Associated/world thinks is popular. That Area 51 design team is slackin' in my mind. I still love you Team Associated, Associated, Thunder Tiger, AE, TA.... whoever you are. 😁

I sure Team Associated will sell plenty of the re-released stuff. I just like to poke a lil' fun at the RC10 drama.

My feelings are that they tried to "outdate" the rc10 and the other cars that I fell in love with and replaced them with the B2-3... not my favorite, then the B4 platform... I don't think anyone was sad to see that go and then I ducked out of R/C.
i come back and Associated SEEMS to have become a company that supports only the "new" model and the old stuff belongs in the trash or something.
I don't like the new cars enough to spend $3k/season to be on the Associated "nice" list every Xmas!
I like the old cars MORE than the new cars in fact.
I dare say there might be some degree of fun in making the old cars compete with the new ones.
Most of my "race" problems were down to heat and the weight/power of the nicad packs. No longer a problem...
I even have a better slipper and oils etc... I might even go in on the ceramic bearings and that if I get good enough on a track again.

Its funny how much confidence I felt comfortable placing on the brand names years ago.
It means next to nothing in so many cases these days.
I don't feel good saying "Its prob good because its XYZ brand" for just about everything.
The only reason that bothers me is because I already own a Kyosho so my bearings, screws, gears, shocks, springs... all interchange.
I don't have the room nor the interest in stocking at parts for racing 4 different brand of cars.
Then add bashing cars and parts...
I'm halfway to opening a hobbyshop here as it is.

I am building 4x4's but I haven't a clue if my "local" track has enough cars to run a mod or stock 4x4 class, nor a vintage class.
My initial thougts were to throw my Spektrum DX4 in my RC10 with some brushless combo and just see what happens at the track.
🤣🤣🤣
2wd is more active. I thought I would get my "track hands" back and not be into my car for big money.
Silly man.

So how was Kyosho's parts dept response when you contacted them?

I have not had contact with Kyosho directly.
Amain answered one.
A & L have been good about answering questions and even posted instructions for their Optima Mid trailing arm conversion kit when I asked them about it.
Cosworks has also been good.

I have been able to find good info online about the Kyosho re-re differecnces where I was not able to find good info about the RC10 re-re.
I ran and raced Kyosho for years. I know the cars well.
I bought the RC10 new. (I never raced it though.)
It has the short arms and the short shocks.
Right around that time was when the longer shocks and arms came out.
I knew there were 2 sets of shocks and possibly a 3rd with the re-re.
Research left more questions than answers so rather than trying to rely on online advice from kids who are younger than my car, I thought I'd try the ppl who built it. I thought this would be a very easy, common question.
I must be one of the VERY FEW who find value in an RC10 vintage car. 🙄
Replacing leaking/old shock seals would be job #1 right???

Maybe they thought they were going to convince me to toss the old RC10 and buy a new one to run instead?

I really wish I'd hung on to my RCCA and similar mags from back then! So much info!
