Good morning to all-
So, this morning early being calm and still, I walked myself and my UMX Waco biplane- the white one- down to the flying field. Calm, still, and just a tiny bit of low fog right on the grass of the field. so I took off, flew a few circuits, practiced some rolls and loops, and then did a large, lazy loop, and Fellers, at the top of this loop my little airplane just disappeared. That fog had blown up and rolled in over me, and my airplane was just as gone as a wild goose in winter. Could not see it at all.
The only thing I could figure was to put put it back in Safe mode, and try to do large circles. And I could still not see it.
Well, Fellers, I figured that was a plane lost, but at once, I could hear the little buzz of the motor, and then I saw the wings flash in the sun as the plane went above the fog bank. So I throttled down, put the plane in a slow circle descent, and then about a hundred feet or so above me, the little plane just emerged from the fog. That was a moment of relief better than Rolaids or Pepto- just sayin'.
So I brought the plane down, made a pretty good landing, if I do say so myself, and I took myself and my airplane back home. I was a grateful little fellers, I surely was.
you all be safe and keep well- Ed
