Hi guys, I just got a new body for my savage and would like to drill about 20 5/16 holes in the windshield and rear window for cooling. I tryed (on my old body)a drill bit but that didn't look that good, so I got a center drill from work that was better, not to bad. But what is the best way to drill the holes so it looks good? I saw a reamer at the lhs is that what I need to use? Thanks for your time!!!

I prefer a single larger hole rather then several smaller ones. Its more efficient. Larger ROUND hole are stronger than cutting windows out.

The 1 large hole is best, but make it as round as ya can. Any place the isn't round will eventually result in the lexan tearing at that point (if ya bash like me). A circle cutter is best, a ream is good, but don't try a drill bit.

I Don't know if you guys ever tried it but i use a metal hole saw bit and it works great makes a nice clean hole, and any size is available, just a suggestion.

I use my conical grinding stone for my dremel tool. It makes nice 3/8 inch sized holes and works very well on the lexan. The only requirement is that you clean up the edges after you are complete.

I like the multiple holes vice the one big one....just my preference. Regardless, you must ventilate the body.

Tru Sky, but I've found that the HPI Bronco body doesn't need front air holes. Probably because it's so big anyway and tends to draw air from underneath. I won't go to another shell cause it makes the truck look smaller.

This one is fitting too.

LMFAO @ Error......

Thats ok man....dont let them hate on ya. They r just jealous that they have to bend down to get a face full o boobs.

Damn, Pee Wee sorry I hijacked your thread. Didn't mean to.

Rob, man, I've learned to live with the shortness. Yeah, I can't scramble for cover as fast as Sky, but I fit in a smaller foxhole and sports cars alot easier than him too.

Bare with me on this one... It may sound odd, but I traced out the cap to a stick of deoderant on one of my lids. It gave me a nice oval hole which looked awesome... It was cut out very carefully with my lexan scissors and a dremel grinding bit...

That is an excellent idea...nice hole with no angles.

I used this method to put an oval hole in the windshield.

Run two screws into the Lexan and make a small loop of string. As you can see I had to play with the screw distance before I got it where I wanted it. The loop of string requires a couple tries as well. Loop the string over the screws and use a pencil inside the string loop and you'll draw a perfect oval.

I used a drill to drill holes around the oval, a hobby knife to cut between the holes, and a dremel to finish it off.

On my stock body I took a shock oil bottle (I think) marked a circle around it and dremmeled it out nice round circle.
