I have painted a couple of bodies with spray cans and they turned out realy nice, but now i am wanting to try painting with a air brush. I was wondering do any of you all use air brushes and if so what kind. I am looking to buy one but I am not sure what kind to buy for r c aplications.Your suggestions will have a great influence on what I buy. You all have give me great advice in the past. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I am not realy sure on how much I want to spend but I will spend what ever it takes to get a good quality air brush.

Right now I use a Badger 350. And I'm sure a few are cringing. It's a basic, single action external mix brush. It's cheap. Like $65 for the setup w/o compressor. Works ok. I am starting to do more work with it and am thinking of upgrading. The advice I have seen is to go with a dual action internal mix. But I also hear they are tougher on the beginner. I haven't had experience with others. But Badger, Aztec and Paasche are good names to consider. I'm sure there are others and hopefully these guys will give you good advice.

Candyman is right, a single action external mix brush (you push the trigger and air and paint flow) is the easiest to learn with. You can achieve nice results with it. A dual action internal mix (push the trigger and air flows, you pull back to start the paint flow) will give you much better control, but they are much harder to control. They have a bigger learning curve. I paint with a Badger 150, it is a dual action internal mix that is really nice to use. There are lots of options. Parma, Paasche, Badger, Aztec, Iwata.

That should get you going

I use the Paasche HS Single action brush and like it.
When I first decided to get an airbrush I ran out and got the Paasche Deluxe VL Pro setup. It sure was nice... I guess... I just couldn't get the hang of using the duel action setup. A Tattoo artist friend lent me a single action Paasche and I was up and running with only a few minutes of practice. I returned the VL and got the HS and have been happy with it.

Make sure you get a moisture filter and a GOOD pressure regulator for your compressor.

I like the dual action. Especially when doing the edge work around flames etc. GREAT for fading too.

I running a dual action Paasch with a Paasche compressor with moisture trap and pressure regulator.

I personally recommend the Aztec A4709 kit. It has everything you need for airbrushing nice bodies.. The brush can be set for Single or Dual action, (great feature), Very light and fits the hand well. I've just started airbrushing, and I have'nt tried others, but this brush has been great to me...

I just picked up a faskolor F1 brush that is really beefy and well built. I really like it so far, it is a great compliment to my Badger.
