AGFrc Servos

Like a savox whine? Maybe installing a ferrite choke on the one classic?
I just took a look and realized I had already tried that. I put clamp-on ferrites of two different mixes on the servo wires and also on the ESC/battery leads. No effect.

But they both work as they should?

Doing a dry run/testing of servos when I get them, the last two A73BHLW V2 40kg servos that I got had different sounds to them when operated/putting some resistance to them. Not enough of a difference in sound volume/pitch to concern me.

I got no answer for you other than they were possibly different batches with different components used during assembly.

Both work perfectly. I was just surprised at how different they sound.

I just got the truck out and ran it in the yard. Turns out although the squeal seems loud and annoying on the bench it is pretty much undetectable outdoors. Just me worrying about nothing... :rolleyes:

I checked out the link you provided. :thumbs-up: Interesting that the squealing --actually, lack of-- could be an indicator of quality.

I just put fancy stickers on my economy servos, no problems so far. 🤷‍♂️ 😁 Honestly, I have a hard time paying for premium servos, I have had very few servos go bad or not be up to the task. And if they do need replacing, it's a lot cheaper with my economy servos.

Not saying there is anything wrong with the high end stuff, just don't find it nececarry for the way I play, might be different if I was seriously competing. I can however admire the craftsmanship that goes into them. :thumbs-up:
 
The hobby is filled with many "buy once cry once", "now or never", "it's this or nothing" items.

Users have different RC vehicles with different needs. Everybody has their own opinion on value and what it means to them. Servo manufacturers usually have tiers of varying quality. From $15 to $150 price range standard servo selection... AGFrc is no different. Before shelling out money for any servo, I look for replacement gear sets. I certainly would feel more comfortable spending $60 on a servo and know I don't have to throw it in the trash if/when the gears fail. I've looked at many potential lower budget servos like Power Hobby, HobbyPark, Flash Hobby, DS Servo, BETU.... pretty much every low-cost electric steering mechanism sold on Amazon but came up short when I couldn't find replacement gear sets for them.

I am one of those "middle of the road" types of people. Even though the printing on the box/clamshell packaging may say premium, I consider my $60 go-to servo a great servo at a good price. I have, from time to time, gone against my "must have spare gear sets" purchasing rule only because of stupidly great sale on a (said to be) very good servo(s).
 
@RustyUs I kept thinking I recognized your avatar from somewhere but couldn't place it. Last night it finally clicked...Greatest American Hero. 🤷‍♂️ 🤣 I'm a little slow sometimes. I haven't seen that show since it premiered on network television.

Are gears interchangeable between different models of the same AGFRC family (A81Bxxx)

I got the [A81BMWP 55KG, 0.087sec] but i am more interested in response time than torque.
Can i get the replacement gears of a same family servo like the [A81BHSW 0,075sec 35kg] in order to make it faster and less torquy ?
Is there a better way ? the BMWP uses a different beefier motor so I fear I won't get the expected result.

It could very well be possible if case and design are the same, but, like you said, the motors are probably different as both servos have similar speeds. If there was a greater difference in speed between the two servos and the torque values were not so different... I'd be more inclined to think a different gear set drop in could possibly be done. I'd have to give AGFrc support crew the question to tackle.

What ESC are you using?

For me, and if the numbers are highly accurate, I couldn't tell a 12 millisecond difference in speed during an off-road RC adventure. Unless you are doing some super-fast high grip road course navigating... I would think a 0.087sec/60° servo is plenty fast for anything.

What RC platform are we talking about?

What servo horn are you using?
 
The platform will be a Rlaarlo DSK kit (1/8 buggy bashy/racy) still is on order. I will be using a max8 Hobbywing G2 or G2s @8.4V and the horn included in the servo box (black aluminum)
I am an average pilot and don't need more speed, but my theory is that the gyro should be able to 'feel' the difference of 10ms => that's why I am interested in converting torque into speed.

The A81BMWP and it's 0.087sec/60° spec is super great. I'm sure a lot of people would slow it down and increase the speed as track conditions change.

The aluminum clamping servo arm, that comes with some AGFrc servos, has two holes for mounting steering linkage... 20 & 24mm away from center of servo's output shaft.

Even if steering linkage is being mounted 20mm away from servo output shaft, a person will not use full throw of the arm... making transit time even faster, right?
 
Got it ! Instead of trading torque for speed through gearing, I could use a longer horn or a hole further away from the rotation center.
I will definitely start there, thanks for the tip Rusty!
