AE .15x from GT2 in an older GT??

Hi guys, I bought a new AE .15 for my RC10 GT, which is an older one but has the blue flat chassis. The motor mounts are not the same. The backplate and Tiger drive that I mounted on the new engine hit the old motor mount on the outboard side of the chassis. I have the mounts from the new engine, but they won't line up with any holes in the chassis.

The old mount is a large one piece mount, and the new one is a small 2 piece mount.

Should I drill new holes and use the new mount? Or should I get out the Dremel and cut off the part of the old mount that is in the way?

If I drill new holes, I know the clutch bell and spur gear won't line up very well, as I am not a very precise driller :)

Or.....do you folks have a better solution?

Yup, for the older GT, to install a pullstart motor, you will need a pullstart mount, header (the non-pullstart hooks down-and-low, right where the pullstart would be), and body. You will also need to make sure that the crankshaft is short. If it's a slide-type carb, check Associated's site; they have the directions on how to mount a slide-type carb in an older GT.
 
Thanks guys. I ended up taking the cut-off wheel to the mount and it works fine. I made my own pull-start mount :) . I also ordered the correct one, as I did have to shim this one and I don't like it. It sure does run nice. Broke it in today and got it running fine. Best running nitro I have ever had. Starts, runs, and idles just beautifully.

The AE .15 was probably the best, most reliable engine I have ever owned. I don't know why, but it always started, idled, stayed with the tune, and never overheated. I loved it, but just didn't have the power I needed. Needless to say, I wish I would have went with a more powerful small block now...
 
Yep, it definitely is sweet.

Anyone know of a larger fuel tank to put in the RC10GT? Sure would like a little longer run time....

What kind of run times are you seeing with a stock tank (Is it 75cc?)?

With the .15, it was about 7-10 minute, depending on the driving style, sometimes up towards 12 minutes or so. At that time, I figured it was time for a cool down anyway, so the small size really doesn't bother me. With the big block, I'd say close to 5-7 mins. Still, with something that fast, it runs out about the time I am going to do something crazy, so in essence, it saves me money in parts! :-)

I probably get closer to 7 minutes, maybe a hair less. I guess I shouldn't run it much past that time so it can cool off.

Probably got almost a 1/2 gallon through it already, and this little motor is amazing! One of the few motors I've had that I didn't have to carry a tuning screwdriver in my pocket while running it. It starts, idles perfectly, and will run through the whole tank of fuel without fanfare. Probably gets into the high 30 - low 40 MPH range....

Thanks for all the info guys. It was a big help. I did get the correct mount and install it so I could eliminate the mount shims....
