Has anyone tried this yet? Seems pretty slick. Aluminum shoes, and grub screws you can add or move to change how the clutch engages.

Those do look pretty slick. I'm afraid to ask what the price tag is on those... I'm lookin into putting a metal clutch on my savage.

$16 isn't bad for a new set of 7075's is it? http://www.novarcproducts.com/clutchshoes.html

Never tried them, but I have drilled holes in shoes to lighten them... they were HPI teflon shoes. Removing a bit of shoe doesn't change teflon shoes as much I'm sure as if it were aluminum or adding a small hunk of steel. I guess with those shoes you then get to adjust more with the springs and the weights.

Question: Do they put more wear & tear on the clutch bell and bearings? Seems like the more metal ya put in the more damage gets done.

how does this work?? the metal shoes on a metal clutch bell the concept doesn't seem like it should work.

Depending on where the grub screws are placed it alters the weight of the shoe. Hence the engagement is changed. This can alter how hard you accelerate. I was going to get some for my savage but got the Mugen clutch from a MBX5 buggy. Hooked up great. Both aluminum but the Mugen didn't have the holes.

i understand that but how does the metal shoes and metal clutchbell engage each other wouldnt metal to metal contact not grip??

Metal to metal contact in this case would provide extreme grip. Just remember that the springs also have a big part in how fast things engage as well.

Man, I don't know. I still think the best bet is adjusting with springs. I'm sold on the Dynamite Maxlife shoes. They outlast any aluminum clutch shoe I've ever used tenfold. With those shoes I just have visions of the grub screw backing out enough to cause problems, add to that, no matter where you put the screw 99% of the guys out there running won't even notice the difference in engagement.

IMO the only way you may notie is with a huge engine like the truckzilla or Cen genesis had. I think it was a 46.. other than that I would use the springs.1.0 or 1.1 for tuning.
