Why don't you just buy it from the same place? If you're still upset about the shipping that would be kinda silly IMO. Shipping should have been free so it's not surprising that they sent it parcel post. They did get it out late but I bet they are backed up with orders. I have a feeling that recent exposure for this machine has peaked interest. It certainly has on this forum.

I would like to buy more than 10 sheets. Yeah I know I can buy his 10 packs each at a time, but I was thinking that buying a bunch of them, a person can get each one cheaper in the long run.
Nah I wouldnt say I have any hard feelings about it taking so long, I just personally think that itd be alot easier, less headaches and make the buisness look better if he tossed in the extra $3-5 and get it to its destination in a decent amount of time. I am kinda hesitant to buy from this place again because I dont want to wait 2 weeks for the paper.

i think it takes away from the fun of masking and making your own idea come to life, it maybe the hard way but it still fun for me the other way and there are way cheaper ways to make fine lines, like the pencil airbrush and pin striping tape.

i would use that machine for exterior decals and stuff like that. but thats about it for me. as for a paint scheme, ill stick to old school method

hope that machine works out well for ya, i would like to see a paint scheme that you've done with that machine. see how it is. let us know

I wont me using it for masks really. I have a normal plotter for that already. I wanted to use it for making decals and such, but now I can't even get him to reply to a email about the paper/covering.
Anyone else know anywhere else I can buy this stuff? (Paper and clear covering)

Wouldn't you be able to buy the vinyl at any vinyl supplier? I'm assuming it's the same stuff that's used for vinyl signs and full scale car graphics. You could probably buy a standard sized roll and cut it down. Then just buy the transfer tape to go with it so you can get the decals to the body.

I agree that it takes a bit of the "from scratch"ness away from a body. For me personally, I HATE cutting mask. I love the design aspect and the painting but I absolutely HATE cutting mask. I just don't feel very comfortable. I've improved my technique but I still don't enjoy that step of a body. It's the part that always hangs me up and delays my works... got one right now in cut stage that I just can't get excited about finishing.. once everything is cut I get excited again. However, once it's all finished I can step back and be very proud of my work... problem is, if you're painting to sell it's just not worth it.

But I look at it like this. If I were painting a body for myself I would do it 100% from scratch.. just like my Jmac body. It truly makes it "mine". However, If I tried to sell a body like that done in the manner that I did it, I would be lucky to get $80. with a machine like this I could get the same result (actually better) and save HOURS AND HOURS of labor and still call it "all paint". Considering that I would happily take $70. It takes away from doing it from scratch but the buyer doesn't give a hoot. All they care is that it has the look of custom and not stickers.

just my 2 cents.

My vinyl supplier doesn't carry it in that size and I suppose I could cut it down, but Id have alot of waste. Also have to buy a special vinyl because otherwise the ink just beads up on the vinyl out of the printer.. I tried calling sign warehouse to see if they had anything I could use and they told me to try office depot, best buy or staples. On them sites I can find the printable decal sheets, but not the clear masking over it. I was thinking of buying some (It wasn't to spendy) and then just trying clear vinyl over it. But then again Id have to cut a roll and would have alot of waste since the smallest I can get is 15" rolls, then 24" rolls and its a 8.5" plotter..

I think I'm going to call the main office of who makes the plotter and see if they can aim in the right direction of a place to order some since this guy doesn't seem to want to communicate.

When I'm painting I very rarely use masks. If I do its for lettering or for a specific logo. I mainly wanted it for like licence plates, name plate decals, etc..

Well tonight I got some time to actually sit down and really mess with this and try it out and have to say, it works pretty damn awesome. The program it comes with kinda sucks, and is kinda hard to work with, but I'm sure it will get easier and more friendly as I use it. But for overall quality of the decals once done, is awesome. Ill snap up some pics of the ones I did tomorrow.

sweet little thread here !! who wants to do an 8IGHT buggy body for me ?? i want something that i have never seen before !!
