Ok. yes another one of these treads................ :)

I have an on road NTC3. I dont currently live in a on-road friendly place. LOTS of grass and dirt, rocks. I am planning on selling my NTC3 and replacing it with either a buggie or a truck. I need soemthing that will do well with really bumpy ground, and lots of grass. I am really passionate about buying a 1/8th buggy. looking at the HYPER 7 PBS, or the PCR. As for trucks i am not to sure but i am looking into it. I need something that i can do some hardcore bashing with. PLAIN OUT FUN! I want something that also has some power (to get MAJOR air with). An RTR would be best for now, but must have lots of parts support, and upgrade capability. Please help. If you can recommend something, and a place to buy from that will not RIP me off. PLEASE HELP! (please enlighten a guideless soul)

one word for you savage...

can get um on the web for like $375 free ship or lhs for about $415

A few more words... savage or truggy.

A buggy is tough, but it's ground clearance is minimal. A savage is tough but not as nimble as a buggy.

Or, get a kick azz buggy and throw some MT tires on it to gain some clearance, but then you will be beating it's parts pretty bad. Almost all buggys are single speed, so take off speed may suffer. Most MT's are at least 2-speed.

There's a new XTM buggy, the XLB I think. It's a big bastard. Makes a 1/8 scale buggy look like a stadium truck. It's a two speed with a SH .28 in it. It's pretty new, so I don't know what kind of info you can find for it. But it stands a little taller than a normal 1/8 buggy and like I said, it has a 2 speed to help get it moving.

A Buggy may not be a good choice. They by nature they have and extremely low ground clearance. You will get frustrated having to go and move it every time it gets high centered.

For rocky, clumpy, or grassy driving a 4wd MT is going to be your answer. There are cross breads called Truggys that may be worth looking into. It’s a Buggy adapted with larger wheels. GS makes one but the name is escaping me at the moment.

GS STORM SUT.

There is the RTR or the PRO. For you I would recommend the RTR.

For you I would suggest the Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium RR. It is a truggy, and from what I hear it is faster and more durable than the GS. I don't have personal experience with either but I hear more good things about the HB than the GS.

Buggies are great to play with but heoght clearance is an issue for bashing.
The Hyper 7 series are the way to go on the Ofna buggy line. GS Storms are nice to start with. MT;s I would try the savage 25 or the Revo.

BTW what is your budget?

my budget would be anything $550 and below. I never thought of a truggie. forgot they existed.

ok i have been looking at the Hot Bodies 1/8 Lightning 2RR RTR .26 . This says it has a 2 stroke mill with jump start?. i might be just having a brain fart, but is that the same type of mill that has been around, or is it something new they have come out with? (i think my brain farted *"ewww stinky"*)

as for monster trucks. I want something with speed. i dont really know much about them been looking into them, i want something sturdy! not easily breakable.

Thanks for all the info so far!

Well I think the trend in 25 mills and above now. The Collari 30 is just a screamer! I may just pick one uip for the Savage. Two different worlds when you mention a buggy and Monster truck. Let us know what you decide.

I consider the Revo a truggy myself....it's just a very radical design to be considered an MT, IMO.....they are killing the MT races and they are pretty durable and easy to work w/.......now that RPM makes arms and MIP makes axles for it I kind of want one myself....

LOTS of grass bumpy ground and rocks & hardcore bashing with $550 to spend...that sounds like savage rtr teritory to me

my vote is for the Revo. I bought one a month ago and don't regret it. Lot's of speed, ground clearance, and there's a growing list of hop-ups. Oh, and the suspension on this thing awesome.

Sounds like Savage SS 4.6 territory to me :D

Savage all the way!!!!!!!!!!! :hammer:
My Savage SS 4.6 kit is in the mail so I do not know much about the monster trucks for fact but I have read A LOT about them and I own two other off road HPI and I love them. From the many hours of reading the Savage is the best basher around and the most durable. I have read where the Revo is very fast but if you take it off road and bash it like I do you will be replacing parts as much as running. Once again I do not know this from fact just what I have read. :smoke:

I guess there are a lot of factors that come in to play. I personally have seen the Revo bashed HARD. We are talking jumps at WOT and landing of close to 25-35 feet away maybe more and they survive. Even with bad landings. Its a tought MT. I say the same for the savage.

what about the Savage 25? it is between the savage 25 and the revo.
