I called my LHS to order a new pullstart for the O.S. 30VG. Originally I was quoted "oh about $25". So I tell him sure, go ahead and order it, no problem. Just Called the LHS to get the status on the order and now i'm being told that it's $40!!! Umm, hello, that's almost twice what I was originally quoted! So, I stumble over my words for a few second and gather my composure and asked if he has a electric start for it instead. Of course he does and of course it's also $40. Does anyone know where i can get a pullstart for this engine without having to pay a arm and a leg? If not, guess i'll goto the hardware store this weekend and buy a nice 19v cordless drill and make a bump start for it.

I have one off of an OS 18tm. I dont know if it will fit. I took it off and put on th ez start

Pm if you want it Cheap

IDK but tower wants $46.99, Amain wants $46.99 and RC Planet doesn't list them at all.

Let me research if it'll work on the 30VG and I'll let ya know.

Does anyone know the proper rotation of the mill? I very seriously thinking of building a bump start. Also, If I just remove the old pullstart and go bump, what should I cover that area with? Or would it be better to gut the pull start, plug the top hole with silicone and just use the original pull start casing so no dirt ect gets in?

Update: Found one for $17.99 plus $6.95 shipping but unsure if the place is trustworthy or not. Seems kinda strange to find it this cheap when the reputable places are $40+. Let me know what you think?

OS pull starts blow. you can convert the backplate on it and use an HPI S25 pullstart which is a cheaper pullstart and much stronger.

I will have to look but i may have a Brand new one off of my OS .21tm as well If they work of course

is it just a change of gasket? What all do I need for the conversion?

i know that the EZ start system works for the OS .18TM and i have an extra if needed. but you could check out a tiger drive system, they will run about $25-30 for the gears and wand. and should work better than a PS. just find out what mm the opening is and check out PS from other engines and you should be able to get a cheap PS

let me know if EZ start works for it i got the whole deal and ill sell it cheap. ill never use it again after i got PS and tiger drive

There is a EZ start system (electric start) that's available for that mill, but I was quoted $40 for that also. As long as it bolts up to the .30VG properly, PM me a price and I'll let ya know. 17402 is my zip code for shipping.

The only thing I would be worried about is the backplate not fitting, better check to make sure it will work. I don't know either way, but since OS modified the engine that Matty has to work with the T-Maxx backplate, I'm thinking there other engines are probably a different backplate.

Holy hell, $40 for a plastic handle, some string and a coil spring....... mighty proud of their pullstart.

I can't be much help but I can tell you that the pull start from the os.18 (same as the trx 2.5) will not fit the 30vg.

just so ppl understand that is not just the pullstart .they incl a one way bearing explaining the price diff since most do not incl a one way bearing

Oh yeah, that's true. The link says "Recoil Starter Body". So I guess it's the one-way bearing that is not included.

BTW: What's wrong with the recoil start you already have?

Ya know, I'm not sure yet, lol. I'm buying the Savage from a post on here and it's listed as the pull starter wont return. It could be a simple fix, or it could be fubar. I was just getting a new one to cover what was already broken and to make sure it worked.

i think you should convert it to a EZ start
if your lhs is to expensive for you try tower or horizon

Ill go see if I can find the backplate from the old s-25 and see if it will fit. If it does, i have that, the pullstart, and a spare pullstart.
