As the title says, has anyone put a 3 shoe clutch on a .18 mill or tried? Next week I'm going to start saving up for an O.S .18 mill for my hpi nmt. I figured the more clutch shoes the better acceloration I will get. Right?

if this is possible what type of fly wheel will i need? Will doing this require a different cb?

I did it on my revo... If I remember correctly, the flywheel for the NMT is rediculously fat/thick. You might be able to drop on a flywheel/clutch from a savage like I just did with my revo and my 18TM.

The NMT uses a heavy flywheel to help with jittery accelleration. Running a lighter flywheel might make it more punchy.

I just measured mine, it's about 31mm from the crank case to the end of the screw holding the bell on.

You can see here how close I have the flywheel to the crank case:

I used these: Savage Flywheel/Clutch and OFNA Bell

What tooth bell comes stock on that? I can't remember from when I had mine. One of the better 12T bells is made by sport works. I got it at stormer. It doesn't use flange bearings.

Just some FYI, I had to lighten the shoes otherwise they drug at an idle. I need to lighten them more because they engage way too early.

I drilled a 3/32 inch hole in each shoe.

Mine is the 18TM though, it might idle higher than your 18... Which 18 are you running? CV-R?

Oh, I thought you had one already. To bad they don't sell a cvrx with a pull start and pilot shaft...

i already have a .18 but its from hot bodies and i want to use the 3clutch shoe set up on the O.S mill when i get it. you dont think it will work with the mill i want to get?

No, but it just would be easier if it had a pilot shaft. I had to make a bushing to extend the shaft on the 18TM so the outer bell bearing had something to rest on. Only about 1/3 of the bearing was resting on the actual crankshaft.

Thanks Olds. You just saved me some money and time i would have wasted tried trying to get it on.

If you buy a Ofna clutch kit (don't remember the right name) it comes with washers, spacers, and 2 different extension's that would extend the shaft. When I get home I'll take a picture of what I'm talking about.
