Ok this may sound weird but I am trying to help my brother get his NTC3 running but he is using the crappy 15FE mill. This engine seems to be a Biotch to start. When I finally get the damn thing to start it always wants to rev high. I can't use the brakes as it dies instantly.I checked the opening in the carb and it is fine..about 1MM. I tried to adjust the ISS but I have to be doing this incorrectly. Please help me out. ! I want to get this running so we can sell it later. HELP!!!

ADMINS Please don't move this to the for sale forum. I was just saying if I do get this running I may sell it as we have this one as an extra car. Thanks

isnt it clockwise to open the carb with the idle screw atleast it is on mine

That is one of the worst engines. On mine I have it very rich to stay idling. If not, forget about it.

You want to turn it counter clockwise to let the idle down. Takes a very small allen wrench I believe. Team 17 I would like to know how you can say this is the worst motor. It is not the greatest motor nor the fastest. However It is one of the better running motors I have had, easy to tune keeps a tune. It just runs hot and has hardly any power. Later

OK, start at the beginning. The FE isn't a bad engine. It's a basic engine. Yes, it only has a single needle carb so it isn't the best idler. Set the HSN 3 1/2 turns out from bottomed. Also, set the ISS so that there is a 1mm opening when you apply brakes. Be careful that the throttle trim isn't what's holding the carb open. Check the plug and make sure that's good. If all this checks out, it should be fine. It sounds to me like you're letting the throttle trim hold the carb open. That's why it stalls when you hit the brakes...the carb is closing all the way...

Don't kill me but I had more fun with the .15fe then I did with my .15cv-rx. The cv-rx needed the P&S replaces twice within two quarts. The FE lasted two gallons until I put it in my NMT Racer. Maybe it's because I took it apart.

It's just my opinion. I feel it sucks. I run it for now on my supernitro since all my attention is on my MTX-3 and the Maxx. If u like it I'm glad. I feel that HPI could have stocked a better engine on the Supernitro.

I would imagine that there are way better motors to be put in the NTC3. I would also agree that the motor is way underpowered and honestly I am not sure why HPI still makes it. However it made my Nitro MT go very well untiil I got tired of it. I meant no disrespect and apologize if I seemed like I came acrossed wrong. I would also agree that the super nitro would be way underpowered with that mill. I upgraded my Nitro MT to a .21 at first, that got stolen So I am going to put a Fantom 15 in it and a Fantom 12 in my SS. Later

No problem. I know u didn't mean any disrespect. The forum is for opinions and info. So no hard feelings here. I liked ur input though.

its true that the fe is a dog. however, it is a very good starter engine. i beat the nutz off mine, leaned it wayyyyyyyy more than i should have and it still lived long enough for me to sell it to a friend for 30 bucks. while its not really the fastest , i am sure there are worse if you look hard enough. check all your linkage, adjust the idle screw so it holds the carb open enough under breaks and just let it run rich. 3 1/2 turns is good for the main needle , but it will still run anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 turns out ... i say run it a little rich to keep it happy

also , instead of fixxing a troublesome engine, why not just sell the ntc3 without it . having a 15 fe to go along isnt going to help the price much. or just put in your sale post that the engine needs tuning work.

Yeah well I will try the readjustments for the ISS and Candyman I do use the Throttle trim to hold the carb open. I will try that out and keep you guys posted.
The 15FE needs to go as I do no need this mill. I have two MT12's and an OS 12 TR nonturbo. I just have had this since I got my now sold RS4 RTR 3. THanks you guys!!!
