Well I have been busy with work pulling +90hr work weeks since August. A week into my holidays and I finally have to for me things lol. I picked up a few builder kits in the mean time. This one a TF2 LWB and a 10ii. I have not built a modern kit but did do a couple builds when I was in my 20’s to just get them running.

I don’t really have any plans with this 10iii besides a good paint job and building the kit. We all know what that entails lol. Any ways lets start this build thread. Breaking in the new paint booth and airbrush I have had sitting around for about a year….

Nice. You got the exact 10.3 I want.

That's a lot of hours working, Bro! I'm glad you've finally got some play time.
Already looking promising with the chosen color.

Got a little work done on this today. Got the frame rails attached to the center plate just for sits and giggles. Built the 2 axles and detailed the oil pan. Did a metalic blue for the oil pan and will use that through out the rest of the engine detailing.

Enjoy your free time, used to do those crazy long hours, just can't do it anymore. Enjoy the fruit of your labor! Off to a great start, as @Xraycer said, love the oil filter detail. 😍

Thanks @Doom! I am getting to that point also, those hours are not as easy anymore

I have been pretty busy painting and detailing this thing. First up the body……. How aggravating this ones partially my fault also. Put down a super light coat of green then backed it with black. Then it all started on the matte clear coat. First off it was spitting white chunks all over and I believe it was freezing leaving the nozzle. Ran out and grabbed more. I ended up grabbing pearl clear as these were in behind the matte can on the shelf. Ended up getting more matte so now has a flake matte clear 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

I painted the transmission and roll cage matte aluminum, using this as the base for the engine cover aswell. I had some black wagon wheel 1.9’s kicking around I sanded down and painted dark gray. Then clear coated them with the pearl clear. Got the engine cover detailed and added a nice little touch to the air intake.

Detailing is one if my favorite things, looks great! 😍
Thank you! Sure makes a difference with some detail. It is all built and had it out tonight. Will get some more of the build pics up tomorrow.

The final stretch of the build. When I painted the transmission I just put all the case segments together for paint. I did it that way because I wanted to keep the screw heads black. I mated it to an Injora 550 35T I had laying around and just used the stock 14T pinion that came with it. The receiver box that comes with the kit is terribly small, shame on Axial for that one. Best option the LHS had was a Traxxas Stampede receiver box. I have the dig disabled but am utilizing the 2 speed transmission. The interior is not painted yet as I was unsure what I wanted to do and pretty much wanted to get it running lol.

I got it out for a maiden run. Ran great, my only complaint is it is too slow. I am going to try a 13 tooth pinion and see if that gets it where I want. I want to keep it on 2S if I can help it. Worse case I will have to hold out for a higher rpm motor. Just as I was getting back to the house the servo horn screw fell out as I forgot to lock tight it in 🤦🏼‍♂️. It really needs a light kit also. See how she progresses now.

Awesome job on the build. That looks like it would be a lot of fun. At least until I slipped and busted my tukus and broke my hip or something lol. Me and snow don't play well in my old age, so keep sharing.

First off, she looks beautiful!!!

I gotta know, did you actually paint that white mesh on the air filter? I would not have the patience for that! :)
