1/8 Scale Pipes

Alright you buggy driving fools, lets get some pipe info going.
There are so many choices and such a wide pricerange, how do you know what to get??

I'm going to be looking for a decent low-end pipe hopefully in the $40 range. I hear Ofna makes nice pipes. I may also try my old-stlye CVEC with the single stinger.

I was wondered what the differance in performance is between the stock GS pipe and the ofna Femca #0511

I hear word from Humboldt that you have get a two baffle pipe for around $40. I don't recall the name. I want to say dynomite or something. Maybe he will chime in and tell you.

At our track, we only race 1/8th scale buggies. The guys have been racing there for almost 5 years. Our track pro (LHS owner) recommends the THS Racing Off-Road One-Piece Tuned Pipe 1/8:

Other folks on this board agree. I would suggest this pipe, but you said $40. I bought my THS pipe last night

Wow, Thats great news! I used to reccommend the THS pipe for the HPI Nitro RS4 3 all the time. I have never heard anything bad about those pipes, nor have I heard anything good. It's always Great! I Think I'll add that pipe to me list

I replaced my stock GS pipe (too loud) with a Dynamite Dual chamber. Nice pipe. Below is a link to NitroReview's website where you can compare pipes. It let's you check on the ones you want to know about and some have comments from folks that have used them, some even have ratings.

Eh? The Dynamite pipe looks exactly like the storm pipe :ahh: I am looking at the THS Pipe for now.

that is not the right pipe on the nitroreviews.com. That is outdated and that pipe does suck. The dual chamber that runs great with the stock RTR engine is here

no baffel and only 1 chamber. The thing is junk.

Can you tell me about the pipe in the picture, compare it to the stock pipe, I have it sitting around and I haven't tried it yet.

Humboldt - that pipe looks EXACTLY like a THS pipe. I'm beginning to think that the RD, THS and Dynamite pipes are all the same! lol They might be not BUT they sure look it dont they?!?!?!


For 8th scale, I run and really like my Rossi pipe.

well I have seen both the THS and Dynamite one-piece polished pipe and the THS is longer and skinnier while the Dynamite is shorter and fatter.:thumbup:

I had a question about the Ofna pipes. I noticed that they make pipes for bottom end, midrange, and top end. Since, I installed a 15-tooth CB for more top end, I lost some bottom end. If I install one of the Ofna bottom end pipes, will it help me get some of the bottom end back? Will I also be able to notice the difference?

1) I'd have to say yes based on physics
2) Dunnow. Depends how "in tune" you are with your ride.

The answer to your question is yes, you will get some of that low end back. However, you will lose a little on top end. You should be able to notice a difference. I have not used any Ofna pipes, but I could tell a difference when switching from a Rex 53 (bottom-end) to a Top 86 (top-end).
