1/16 rc

I am looking for a 1/18 scale electric rc car I can upgrade and also drive outdoors. I'm not worried about price I would just like to know what 1 is the best and can be upgraded.

Wait 1/16 or 1/18?
1/16: Traxxas Mini Erevo VXL. Very fast. Great amount of upgrade parts. And very durable.

1/18: team associated rc18mt. Not the fastest or most durable out of the box but with a Castle Creations Motor+Esc combo the things go stupid fast!!!

I had the original -18T as my first hobby-grade truck and was never sorry. Now it's belt driven and has the belts protected from gravel and the like. The original was shaft driven.

You have the castle creations setup in that right? A guy at the bike shop I work at has the 18T with the mmm in it and it is crazy fast for its size!!! It's ridiculous!

I think I might buy the associated without the electronics and put some fast electronics in it. Any ideas what I should put in it as in motor and esc?

I have the MMP/6800kV in both of my RC-!8s. The -18T with that motor and 3s is almost uncontrollable. I've blown several MIP Super diffs.

Stupid fast is always fun

I went to my local hobby shop to pick up my savage today and they had the associated there, right next to the hpi mini recon. Wow I could tell the difference in quality just by feel. The associated was WAY better, don't get me wrong I love hpi. Associated is way nicer tho.

Hopefully soon this summer I can get that associated 1/18th its super cool and would be awesome to just drive around and upgrade.

Another vote for the MERV. I bought one last year based on recommendations from other members, and it quickly became my favorite RC. It's bombproof tough, and stupid fast on 3s power.

I have a mERV VXL, too. It's also stupid fast. I really don't know which I like better.
