is the tranny gonna be a shiny cube??? Thats awesome...

I......don't think so. The shape that it's in makes it easier to hold on the machine. After I get the "business" parts done, I'll shape it to suit. I wanted to do this on the lathe using a 4-jaw chuck, but, the vibration, due to being off-center, was more than I expected, so I used the mill with a rotary table. It's still going to be a 2-piece design, like the plastic one, but, that's where similarity will end.

Because I'm at a standstill on the Juggernaut axles, I found some time to work on MY truck for a change.

I take it you have your own business where u make custom parts for people. Hope u can get more time to work on your beastly dounut patrol that thisng is gonna be awesome.

I make parts..."on the side" for others, which is why I haven't had much time to work on my own truck, with the latest being a set of Jugg axles complete with CVD's on all 4 corners.

Thats really cool, i love making stuff but you have all the tools and skils to make good stuff unlike me. lol

Well, I've been so busy with other peoples projects, I haven't really had much time for my own.....'cept this trans case. It's still in rough form. Because there are many angles to machine, I have to make sure that they are done in proper order or this piece turns to junk:

sweet it looks like a monster truck roll cage thats awesome i saw a mt flip completely tering off the body and thats what it looked like but without the massive two motors in the back, so eash of thos motors are 5 horspower INCREDBLE how much did thos motors cost and where u get them keep workin i'm just as amazed with yor work as anyone else

Well, I managed to find some time to do my own work on the transmission case.

Ok, here's the trans in it's "rough" state; still needs to be lightened some more, tho not much, then drilled, threaded, sanded & polished:

That is AWESOME!!!!!

Although, the size of the pics completely hosed the layout of the thread! But DAMN!!!

I'd leave it heavy. With twin engines, your going to need all the strength you can muster!

Good work!

It is coming along very nicely!!! I like it man... The tranny looks sick... poop, the whole setup looks sick... I can't wait to see the finished product... These little teaser pics are going to make the end dramatic... When its like POW! In your face... You are the RC GOD!!! :worship:

Heavy doesn't make it stronger, just heavy, but, I tknow what you meant. The trans case isn't much heavier than the plastic unit, but, it does need to be trimmed. As for the strength, that's why the mounting tabs are located where they are, to distribute and contain the torque to a local area. I don't know what 10hp will do in truck this size, so, a certain amount of rigidity and flex.....
I'm even entertaining making a subframe to contain the engine & trans and mount that as a unit within the chassis, but...we'll see.

Wow! Are you making those tranny cases with a manual mill and a rotary table? :worship:

If you mean as opposed to a CNC unit, yep. A lot of the case, internally, anyhow, was done on the lathe with a boring bar.

that tranny cleaned up nice. how are your axles and disk brakes comming?

The axles are still in pieces with minor work needed for the rear brakes. After I get this trans mounted, I can get back on those.

Sick is what it is! TOTALLY MENTAL is what I'm going for! :naughty:

I don't know about the rest of these guys, but I really appreciate you allowing us to be a part of this build. It's so cool to see someone make something like this for fun. I get a real kick out of seeing the new pics and looking at the detail you go into to make the parts work.

Thanks again.

That is one nice lookin tranny, that thing is gonna be a beast and i can't wait to see the finished truck, you do great work.
