won't having one tank with two engines be a problem?

CorradoPsi said:it could cause problems with only 1 of the engines running. due to the fuel pressure system (pipes) the pressure from the one running engine will follow the path of least resistance and just go right out the pressure line for the second engines pipe and/or pump fuel into the non-running engines carb.
this is just in theory, feel free to prove me wrong. you could also run one of the savage "truckzilla" tanks that is one fuel tank divided specifically for duel engines.
Jack, how many hours do you have into this truck, or how many do you estimate you will have when your done. also are you making your own gears for the drivetrain (diffs and gearbox) or using off the shelf stuff and making your parts to fit?
Plaidfish said:actually I remember "you never Know unless....."
and beleive me it's not if I can"
it's "do I really want to?"
but w/ an answer like that....I get the impression that I don't want to......LOL.....that's one beastly machine man...I want pics when the brakes are done....that thing will just flip on it's lid......
CorradoPsi said:jack, i was only curious about hours because there are a few machinists on this site. I'm one of them, so of course I'm curious of how much time you have in it. its a nice truck, i never considered building a MT chassis before. I've pondered stuff like hovercrafts, and heli's. but for some reason never thought of a MT. your is inspiring though.

RC Jack said:Ironic, isn't it, CorradoPsi? You're a machinist...and I'm not! And I'll bet apples to navy beans that you have access to tools, tooling & equipment I only dream about! So wutchu waitin' for?? With hovercrafts & helis, certain things have to stay the same and remain constant; not so with monster trucks and you have more latitude to be, not only creative & ingeneous, but functional as well. As far as I know, the only law of physics that applies to monster trucks in gravity.![]()
ZANDOR said:I like your way of thinking jack... I have a mill I think I need to put my brain to some good use
CorradoPsi said:your right i do, but when I'm around that equipment, I'm on the clock. so I'm making parts that pay the bills instead of stuff that gives me thrills. psunitro (jeff) is also a machinist and where he works has more leaway with what he can get away with on the clock. it will definately be something i keep in the back of my mind though should the opportunity arise. keep on with the good work, and if you have any questions about setups for cuts or anything similar dont be afraid to shoot jeff or i a PM. though it looks as if you got things pretty much under control.

I know 1/5 or 1/4 on-road cars have actual disk brakes, maybe you can get some ideas by looking at those.
CorradoPsi said:just a suggestion jack, if you make a floating rotor, you can simplify your caliper by making only 1 pad move.
