I haven't sold on eBay for quite a while because I don't like how they've changed some things and their fees have been going up. However my sister asked me to help out her friend so I have several auctions for stamps I've been selling for her. The auctions have just closed and I am shipping the items now. I'm keeping track of all the fees and etc. so we will know the bottom line on profit. I just found out on my account charges page that ebay not only charges a fee on the selling price, but now they have another final fee on how much I charged for shipping.

What a total rip off!

Feebay ditched the listing fees in favor of charging a fee on the shipping cost. It was an attempt to go after the sellers that sell a $100 item for $10 and charge $90 shipping. Where you really get hosed is on fixed price listings where there is still a listing fee.

doesn't seem too bad. I'm selling a pair of nissan s13 head lights for 100 bucks... 30 lbs or so.. and after all my info of the product.

I think i was only charged like 1.05

I was going to try and sell my extra parts on ebay but have heard all these things and have been rethinking because the stuff I wanna sell isnt worth all that much but what I get for them and would charge for shipping I dont think that it would even be worth it. how much do they actually charge to sell stuff on there?? and how can they make a fee on reg shipping cost?? I can see if someone is charging alot for shipping then yeah tag them but if it is just a normal shipping price it should be left alone..

I wont sell on there because all the fees. I just bought a set of stock merv bumpers for $2.86 with free shipping.

It just depends on what it is I have for sell. If its something that I wont get much out of anywhere else, then I will use ebay.

I would rather sell an item I don't want for $X and net $X minus fees in order to put the cash towards something else than let that item sit in a box or on a shelf doing nobody any good.

That's just me though. I don't do garage sales or flea markets and Craigslist is only really good for large items.

I do a lot of selling on ebay, especially lately since I have this new hobby to fund. You have to watch and find the right combinations of features and listing to avoid being hosed. So far this month I've sold about $800 and my fees are under $50. Perfectly acceptable to me. I usually do free shipping on most my items. The reason is you avoid the fees, make you item more appealing, and automatically get a 5 star rating on that portion of the feed back. Hard to beat. So I start a laptop battery that I know will fit in a small flat rate box out at $10. Worse case (hasnt happened yet) I'll make about $4 on it, but those almost always go for $40-$100 each so its a safe move.

Here is one....I have a guy that has been the high bidder on a item i have up for the last THREE DAYS and sends me a message ten hours from auction end saying he made a mistake on the bid. Bullshit.... And no I will not. Three days and only NOW you notice... Uh no

How much exactly are we talking here ? when ever i post an item and sell it I'm only charged about $ 1.50at the most in the end... that's not much really.. i mean idk if you guys are being charged alot more than that or what but if its not that much more than 2 dollars that's not really much to worry about.

$800 in sales and only $50 in fees? Sorry Chief I'm calling BS on that one. That's only around 6% in fees,I've been ebaying too long to believe that. Auction style listings are 9%,fixed price varies from 7% - 13%(ebay fees,PP extra). Then if you use any of the extra add-ons or services(pics) that adds ta listing fee. I did use a background design for $.10 per item. I just had seven auctions end with total fees of 14.5% including PP but NOT including the shipping fee. I do add a couple of $ to my shipping just for sole purpose of offsetting the fees. High dollar items I ship for free. God only asks for 10%,eBay ISN'T GOD!

My point about the shipping fee is how can it be legal? They charge the fee and I am getting no service or product for my money - that's crap!

They also do specials. Week or two ago they ran reduced fees on up to 100 listings. Call BS if you like, ill try to get screen shots for you.
