I'm looking at some 3s and/or 4s lipos for my new RC8.2e. What would be a good starting point for MAH(yes I know that more MAH equals more run time) & C rating, also is a hard case battery necessary?

Are you planning on racing? If so, most sanctioning bodies require hard-case batteries. I prefer 4000mAH and up batteries and 30c or better rating.

What would help us help you even more is telling us what power system you're using. But I agree with the above that's a good place to start.

I'm getting a Associated RC8.2e RTR, so whatever is standard in that model. I have settled on a SPC 5000 MAH & 50C hard case battery.
