my team losi xxxnt keeps chewing up the inner smaller compound gear in the diff. after a week or so of play. the gears r still plastic if i go with alum. compound gears will this solve my problem ? or am i not ajusting something right when i reasemble the diff. please help!!! thanks.

How old are your bearings in your trans? You may want to check them. A little bit of slop will allow gears to shear teeth very easily.

Years ago when I had a xxxnt, I kept frying the larger gear (monster gear). I ended up getting an aluminum one from RRP then never had the issue again. Also, getting the hardened diff balls and a new set of rings made it smooth as silk and lasted many gallons.

thank u!!!!!!

thanks for the info! this cars been driven me nuts .The bearings and the monster diff. pin are both brand new. the gear that is grinding off is the top inner smaller gear that connects to the brake on the outside of the diff case. If i switch the compound gear out for a alum. one wont it just chew one of the other gears up? i was also told that my slipper clutch may be too tight and that may be the cause of the chewing if so how can i tell when the slipper clutch is adjusted right? thanks, Josh

Maybe try a new trans case?

Usually, I set my slippers so that if I hold a truck down on the ground hard and peg the throttle, the slipper will slip, but not a lot. Although, letting off the throttle when in the air so the tires/drivetrain aren't getting power when landing will help prolong gear life too. THis is where a properly set slipper will help some. The slipper will slip when you land and absorb some of the shock.
