XERUN AXE R3 COMBO for 1/8-1/6 Crawlers - 1700kV

First trail run with this new system, and I'm pleased overall with its performance. Running on 6s with a 1300mAh pack, I had 80 minutes of crawling time. I replaced my 3Brothers 860 kV outrunner / Castle ESC combo. The outrunner noise is just too much from that setup.

Pros:

• Plenty of torque
• Lighter in weight than OEM system
• Plenty of pep and wheel speed when needed
• Good slow-speed crawling control
• Quiet motor / ESC combo.

Cons:

• Drag brake seems lacking, allowing the Honcho to roll back on steep ascents.
• Compared to the OEM system, unless you're wanting to shave some weight from the truck, I'm not sure it's worth the upgrade effort.

I'm gonna fool with the drag brake settings to see if I can bump up the hold.

I have an axe combo in one of my TRX4's and love it. I did have to max out the drag brake, even on a light trx4. Maybe a gearing issue.

Yes, unfortunately the gearing options are limited for the SCX-6. I have a 12 tooth for a pinion and the 52 on the spur, with OD in the front. Can't go any lower than that with the factory transmission parts. We got some transmission ideas bouncing around.

Adjusted the settings and it's fantastic. Just ordered another unit as a spare..
