Hello all,

Purchased a used Xmaxx recently and I’m slowly working my way through replacing or upgrading parts.

I really love the Xmaxx and having a lot of fun with it. But I am finding it suffers from understeer. Any tips to get the back end to step out a bit and power slide more?
Should I start with diff oils? If so what recommendations?

I have a new servo ordered that I am yet to install.

Thanks Kingsy

Welcome sir.

Heavier rear diff oil.
Heavier front swaybar.
Lighter rear swaybar.
Less static rear camber.
Less rear camber gain (roll center adjustment).
Less rear toe in.

That’s a fair amount to get you started. Make changes slowly, methodically, and ONE AT A TIME. Test, test, test.. Also, keep in mind that it’s an absolutely massive MONSTER TRUCK, and not designed to drive like a buggy, or truggy to begin with. You CAN steer it that direction, but the more you do-the more monster truck characteristics will be sacrificed.

Hopefully, the steering is setup great, and servo can handle the load. If the thing had (it doesn't/does it?) sway bars, I'd rip off the front ones immediately. Very little adjustability in the platform from what I can tell... upper arm inner hinge pin location, and that's about it. I'd start working with center and rear diff fluids to get the effect you want.

Since you bought the thing used... do you know much about who you bought it from and what fluids are in your truck? If nobody can give you a definite answer what fluids/oils/springs they used... put the thing back to stock setup and tune the diffs from there. Page 28 of the manual has stock positions of camber links and some info on roll centers. ;) :thumbs-up:

Good luck, and welcome to the forum/fold! :welcome_sign:
