I've got a set of shocks and I want to change the springs for something softer. The internal diameter needs to be 14mm with a length of 40mm . I've tried to find some but exact dimensions are hard to come by. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I used to (and still do to some extent) swap different brands of shock springs on different RCs all the time. A shock spring with a 14mm inside diameter is not ringing a bell for me. That's why I asked what platform you're working on. I measured my Associated small bore (10mm) and "big bore" (12mm) shock springs. 13mm, and 16.4mm are the inside diameters of those springs.

Welcome to RCTalk forum.
Let's start by telling us about your RC vehicle that you want to change the shock springs on.
It's a bit of a custom build really. Based on a 1/14 scale buggy. I've fitted traxxas motor and radio gear. It goes pretty well but the springs are a bit too stiff. I've tried with the oil but I can't find any springs. The shocks are (close your ears)... Cheap Chinese shocks.

i presume you have a 1440xx
if so - you will struggle to find a springs (as i did)
at the end of a day i've couldn't manage to find any spring to fit that shoucks so just bought a set of stoch shocks and use their springs

I checked boxes... I can't find any smaller either tho I'm pretty sure I had some from Tamiya that were small, I don't know that they were soft.
The Frog and maybe Hornet springs too. Pretty sure those springs were little guys.

I have the same problem generally. Whenever I need springs, I need to go to an OEM source.
No idea who told the aftermarket spring/shock makers that RC cars weigh more than 1:1 but it would he GREAT to get this resolved!!!
