ok this is my question let say you are selling something in the for sale section and someone is intrested in something your selling but they dont have apaypal or a credit card but they say they can send you the money in an envelope would you di it?

Most definately not do you know how many hands will come in contact with that envelope before it gets to you IF it gets to you you'd be lucky to ever see that money!

NOPE!
If they have the funds tell them to go to the post office and get a postal money order..

yeah, have them get a money order. Its safer for them (They can cancel it just like a check, and can also keep tabs on when and by who it was cashed by) anyway. But yeah, taking a money order is no problem. Just be sure to not send anything out until you cashed the check.

definatly go for the money order it protects both, seller and buyer more than "cash in envelope" method

The cost of a money order is cheap. I think the PO charges like a $1.50.

No way! Money order only! Amscot actually offers free money orders, so it would not cost him anything extra. My only neg on eBay is from an butthead that said he sent me a whopping $7 cash, needless to say I never got it, so I never sent him the damn skid plate. Worst thing about it was the uction stated paypal or money order ONLY. Yeah, I stole his $7, now I'm retired, own a huge house in Costa Rica, and drive a cigarette boat everywhere I go. It AMAZING what you can do with a stolen $7  What an butthead!!! Anyway, don't do it!

Hey!
$7 is $7!
And I still want my skid plate!
I thought we weren't going to bring this up again?

Yeah money order only and make sure he gets it from a well known facility. You can also have him go to a Western Union and send you the cash that way. I have done that many times and it works out actually better then a money order because you get the cash instantly and my local Western Union is open late and on the weekends.

Good luck
Bruce

Heck the USPS MO is less than a dollar, I had to do two recently after buying something on eBay and not realizing the guy didn't take PP and then a race entry fee that I ended up missing the deadline on! DOH!!!! Three little letters to live by, whether your buying or selling----CYA!!!

Even when I'm sending a money order, Ill still get it confirmed at the post office. Its a $1.30 extra, but ya can track it, and its guranteed delivery. Cheap price to pay for alot of security in my book.

i was talking to my mom about money orders. she told me it was like a check. she asked me what i was triing to buy. i told her something from tower. if i told her that i was buying something used she wouldnt let me. which is why i didnt tell her about when monkeywrench sent me the parts and stuff. so i will start buying from some of you hopefully.

Being not old enough to buy/sell could be a real pain... but a MO is a certified check. It will not bounce. It's as garanteed as cash in hand unless it gets cancelled before it is cashed.

I don't like dealing with MO's because it's slow and a bit of a hassle to send one. I like to use PayPal. Quick, easy, painless... and I don't have to leave my keyboard to do it. But when you have no other choice, a MO is the only way to go.

if i do start buying from some of you with MO it will only be till i get a job and put money into my bank account and get pay pal.
